I'm having issues with installing the driver side pacemaker header. So much so that I'm almost about to say it's bull**** and impossible without lifting the motor, Ive got the rack off, the dust cover off and a huge hole in the ground so I've got heaps of hoist like room but there's still no way it's going in after several hours wriggling it around. There's almost no paint left on the pipes :P, anyone got a magical tip for me?
well you already know mineso go do it!! dooooooooooooooooooo it!!!!
benny rekcons I should lift the motor so I'm going to go put the car back down and try that
drop the drivers side mount and put a jack under the sump with a large block of wood, jack it up and that might do it. might also need to drop the steering shaft away from the rack (mark it first)

Or you could just drive it with 1 std exhaust and 1 pacemaker
Serious tho I would do what immortality said and try to lift the motor abit without removing it all together
Or just duck down to the exhaust shop![]()
Drop the steering rack and fold the bottom of the column up out of the way. Come up from the bottom. Much better with 2 people. Don't forget to remove the plugs. I didn't have to lift the motor to fit mine (all up took just over an hour for both sides) but the car was on 4 axle stands. If you have ABS you have my sympathies.

with the rack removed its hitting on the converter cover, the block and the chassis rail all at the same time.... so fair to say its not going in from the bottom.... ive explained to him what to do on MSN and hes off doing it now so should hear from him in an hour or so if he doesnt get carried away with driving it once its done![]()
with the pacemaker dont they have a removeable picie in them to allow fittment.
for the v6 they do.... V8 they dont
haha manual would be done by nowand theres one sitting in your shed isnt there jason!!!
haha I got it in from the bottom with the motor lifted about 2 inches, only just went in then too but since I did such mass de construction on the car earlier today I wont be driving it till tomorrow when I put it all back together:P. Pacemaker were dreaming in their instructions thinking it was going in without the motor lifted, there was no chance of that happening. I don't think it would go in from the top without the motor half way out, it still needed heaps more than I had it lifted to even get close
well let us know how they go![]()
It took me 4 hours to fit the drivers side pacemaker headers to a VN 5L auto, without lifting the motor. and then 4 hours to cut the passenger side Genies out as one pipe went below the gearbox and the other above it.
Second set I fitted while the motor was out, then had issues trying to get the steering rack to fit. Although that was the Competition headers with bigger primaries/secondaries.
Pacemakers... good headers... impossible to fit easily.

At least I'm not the only one that found it a mission and a half. Next time I wont bother with the hours of wiggling the header around trying to find a magic spot where it will slide in, I'll just lift the motor up straight away and be done with it. I'm impressed you got that in without lifting the motor, I don't think any amount of hours was going to solve it for me
ha, the old jack and block of wood under the sump works everytime
