neutral safety switch question

yeah howdy ,can anyone explain to me the neutral safety switch and what it does and if the auto gear box has been removed and overhauled should the safety switch be removed and reinstalled as well
my car is not starting in neutral after gearbox work was done
any help much appreciated

All it does is provide an earth for the coil on the starter relay. If i has not been re-installed properly and not starting in neutral then yes it will need adjusting/replacing.
