hi everyone, My mum has a berlina with the key entry on the passenger side that disables the immobiliser to which she has lost the key....now when she tries to start the car it will not start due to the ignition key being old i guess..sometimes it will take 30mins to get the car started....is it possible to get another key for the immobiliser switch or is the a way to disable this without the key??? pls help if u can.....
friend of mine, his key died on his immob and he didnt know what was going on, thought even his starter motor was gone lol. anyway he had to go to holden i think and get a replacement which i think is was your gonna have to do :<
It may not be necessary to replace the remote, though that is a possibility, depending on what is wrong. I am assuming that the car cranks on the starter motor, but doesn't start because the anti-theft hasn't been disabled. Maybe some more details?
If the battery in the remote has failed, it is straightforward to replace; undo the two screws (the screwdriver required is small so you may have to buy one but it's still probably less than paying someone to do it) to access the battery. The batteries are widely available, even in some supermarkets. An indication that the remote battery is dead/dying is the intensity of the LED on it and a reduction in the range at which it will operate the central locking.
If it is the switch in the pillar that has failed, the switch can be replaced by drilling out the rivets holding the old switch in place and the anti-theft shield that limits access to the switch wiring connector.
