Default VN - Coil pack upgrade

Looking at upgrading my brothers coil pack from series 1, to series 2. The problem is he keeps blowing coil packs and DFI modules. Their lasting about 6 -12 months. I read ages ago you replace them with series 2 ones. But i cant remember if you swap the DFI module aswell. Has anyone done this before and can enlighten me some more it would be much appreciated. Or if you have the parts for this could you let me know.

    Cheers Tom

the DFI is the bit underneath the coil packs yea ? (i forget names of things) then yes you should replace BOTH with series 2 because the Series 2 one will require more power for more spark....
please correct me if im wrong peoples

Yep DFI is under the coil pack. The only thing im not to sure about is the wiring, do i need to alter the wiring to put the series 2 DFI module in? and will it bolt in fine?

my 88 vn has separate coil packs and a dfi module dated 2002 and wiring is stock so I think it is plug and play
It has a huge crack throught the mount hole of one of the coils I dont think is standard but

the DFI/coil packs are plug and play but they mount differently so you might need the bracket from a s2 to mount it. if he keeps blowing coils it could also be bad leads

All done, and fixed the problems, wow wat a difference. We used s one from a VR, due to 3 single replaceable coils. and got leads with it. All bolted up, a piece of ****, easier then replacing the series 1 coil pack. Very happy, thankyou's all who helped out it is much appreciated.

We noticed a small response gain, by upgrading to the VR coil pack, but that could easily been the DFI was on its way out before it showed serious signs.
I'd personelly be upgrading to a series 2, or VR (not sure of VS) DFI and coil pack, it takes not more then an hour to upgrade and is so simple to do, and saves replacing coil packs and dfi modules all the time.
