Thread: how do i disconnect my trans from my engine???

    Question how do i disconnect my trans from my engine???

    im trying to disconnect my transmission from my engine but those bolts are almost impossible to get to. i managed one at the bottom but have 5 left. is there a different method to this???

    disconnect the diff and undo all the supports for the tranny and put a jack under the tranny so the tranny is lower and resting on the jack so you have more room to get your hands in

    What odyssey said, but I also used a heap of extension bars and laid them along the top of the box far enough back to get the ratchet to work. I think I needed to use a uni joint on one of them.

    i managed to disconnect the transmission i just undid the engine mount arm thingy under it and got the crane on the engine and moved it forward enough to reach and undo the bolts now i just got to undo my convertor inside and bang engines out soon

    Yep, this is what i do, especially for the top 2 bolts. A stiffer uni joint is good to stop it going the flop on you.

    Be prepared to get covered in gearbox oil!

    i just changed my auto,
    best way i found is take off extractors/pipes and all the intake up tioo the manifold, then you can reach em all either from under or over

    V6 or V8? Access to bolts is significantly easier with the V6
