    Default 20's scrubbing

hey guys, just bought my vn ss about 3 weeks ago, tyres were bald on both the inside and outside, i fitted new tyres yesterday and noticed that they scrub against the bottom of the strut, what can i do to relieve this problem, suspension is not my thing, and id rather get an opinion off you guys before i take it to a suspension work shop.

It will be rubbing on the spring seat, so wheel spacers wont solve the problem and neither will rolling the guards.

Only way to fix this is either get a.) a lower profile tyre or b.) get coilovers.

Nah i was thinking if he DID use wheel spacers, THEN he would have to roll the guards.

But it's probably easier to get coil overs.

$1500 or so for Pedders to turn your current struts into coilovers. Noltec ones are $2200 with adjustable strut tops I think.

Considering thats the spring seat, is that really a wise idea? Surely denting/bending up one end of the spring seat and changing how the bottom of the spring seats is going to have some adverse effects?

On the other hand, why not get smaller wheels that actually fit your car?

I should mention that the wheels will be illegal also.

If the tyre is hitting the spring seat its as simple as the fact that the overall rolling diameter of the tyre/rim combination has been increased by too much which means you have the incorrect tyre profile for 20" wheels on that model.

There's no way i'd bash anything in my suspension with a hammer....... Unless it was off my car and going in the bin....

u can get some struts of a crewman and bolt them in as they clear 20s ...
    coilovers
or u can get your struts modified to clear the rims any engineering place can do it..
    get lower profile tires

or an airbag setup with the new front struts

just a few things for u to ponder over

Crewman struts into a VN would take quite some work would it not?

why would i change my tyre profile i just bought the tyres. so i may aswell go and get the coilovers from pedders, 1400 installed. so what am i suppose to do sell me 20's and get 19's? stuff that. and there will be no dodginess, no spacers or hammers, airbags are an idea but if i got the front done id have to get the rear done aswell otherwise it wouldnt be worth it, whats a cheap airbag kit go for these days havnt seen much info. some things arnt easy and to get the custom look i want my 20's, and i dont give two f*cks if you think t20's look gay.

settle down partner, just saying. Plus your rims are worth more than your car!
