Default Intake Manifold G vs. H/G

Ok, been having coolant loosing issues and there seems to be alot of excess water coming out of the exhaust.

Im getting a compression test done soon, well as soon as work will allow but i need to know:

Will a failed head gasket casue the same issues as an inlet manifold gasket?

Will an inlet manifold gasket cause the compression test to return bad figures?

Im aware its difficult to break V6 Head Gaskets in a N/A application but still possible... dont realy have the time to fix it nor the cash to pay someone else to do it either....

compression test will determine everything yes?

Have read alot on here about the HG replacement process, all gordons threads + both gregories and haynes and im confident i can do it... can just see alot of late nights as i work 12hour days with weekends (ie. 7 days) and i cant just "take one off"... This sucks

a compression test will diagnose a faulty head gasket (assuming you haven't got a burnt valve or bad rings)

if it's a intake gasket then the compression test should come back fine (assuming no other problems)

if you're going to pull it apart you gotta take the intake off first anyways, so if it's only the intake gasket you'll see it pretty quick and won't have to remove the heads.

if your going to pull the heads off (and if you have a valve spring compressor) pull the valves out and lap em with some valve grinding paste and fit new valve stem seals. you can also clean all the carbon out of the heads and off the valves and maybe clean up the runners with a die grinder whilst your at it (i can't strip anything without a need to modify) i chuck the valves in the lathe at work and give em a quick polish also and you can wash all the built up sludge out of the intake manifold

Yeah i was reading the threads(all 90) that paradox posted, would do the valley seals, etc etc.... new springs etc. while im there.. its not often you have the heads off. Although i planning on a full rebuild anyway with a different engine... im not sure. Ill replace the intake manifold gasket(inspect anyway) if its not damaged ill assume worst and plan for a head job.... then ill tackle the heads on my car lol...

ok so compression test then intake manifold...

    thanks immortality
