Default High Idle problem..VN V8 manual

Hi girls and guys,i have just purchased a VN BT1,its a 5L V8,manual box.Yesterday i removed the battery terminals to replace them, then refitted the new ones and reconnected the terminals up.(that was last night).Today i was driving to work/to home, now it idles at 1500rpm and then it would slowly drop to 1000rpm.Also while driving when you disengaged the clutch the engine revs rise to 1500rpm or alittle higher.I have cleaned the throttle body and IAC valve, and reset the memory in the ECM for the idle air control valve. But this has not helped much.So i am asking if any of you girls or guys have had a similar problem and what was your remedy.Thanks.Also wondering if a V6 commodore VS IAC will interchange with a V8 item.cheers

everytime you disconnect the battery or reset the ECU on 5L's you got to hold the revs at 3000rpm for 10 secs to reset the idle control.

Yes i already know that and have already reset the IAC.But i still have a high idle problem. So i might have a faulty IAC or TPS.Will have a look tomorrow.

Thanks greenfoam.Yeah i was wondering if you could make me a performance chip for my VN V8 BT1 manual sedan.I dont want to buy one of those hsv items off ebay.So would you be able to make us one to suit to help get abit more punch out of the VN.It has a stage 2 crane cam done know the grind but is lumpy/than standard (gets up and goes alot better too),extractors/big exhuast, bigger fuel rail(dont know about what size injectors or reg),vp ss lsd diff with 3.08 gears.Soon to have a VS cold air intake and readjust the timing. So if you could help us out that would be great cheers greenfoam. Also when would you be able to make us one up if possible and cost?

i had the same problem, but mine was oppisite, it idled low and stalled when i put it in drive, and even when i came up to intersections it stalled, i just screwed the idle screw in and it's now sweet, idles at 750rpm in park/nuetral, and drops to about 600ish in gear. no more stalling.

Also try slackening your accelerator cable too, that might be a bit tight and not letting the butterfly close enough, you just got to loosen those two nuts and slide the plastic cable sleeve towards the throttle body a bit.

Thanks for the info V85000i,i backed off the idle/butterfly screw and idles lower around 900 to 800rpm.But i have a feeling its the TPS playing up because whilst cruising at 50kmph in 4th it feels like its jerking alittle and when i start the car the revs go straight to 1500rpm and then slowly back down to 800 to 900rpm.I have a spare IAC and TPS off a V6 VS/VT motor will see if it makes any difference.Cheers
