Default got a problem with immobiliser remote

my mate has got a vp he bought for his gf, long story short there no longer and the car has been put on my front lawn...now i got the key and the immobiliser remote but the remote has been broken(by his ex) and the car can't be moved or started (that we know of).
So my question is how can i get this remote fixed or replaced quickly and easily?

my mate lives up the sunny coast so can only come down on the weekend but im sure most places will be closed so i wanna get it done while i got the week off.

i was thinking of going to holden but if theres some sort of other mob that can do it i'd be interested.

    cheers all

You need the appropriate key to do that and I guess that you don't have that. If you don't have the key, it is possible to replace the overide switch/lock, which will come with new keys.

I what way is the remote broken? ie. is it (potentially) fixable.

To program a remote for the car, a Holden dealership workshop will need both the remote and the car. It's possible that a locksmith may be able to it differently.

From experience you may have to go to holden, 'break' into your code and maybe reassign you a new one through the immob. I think it will set you back 50$

my mates battery died on his keys,(VR) the battery is also welded into the **** so you cant safely get it out so you have to buy a whole new key/immob thing from holden even if your battery dies you cant simply buy another and replace it.

no not fixable, the lil led light is sorta broken off and it's a bit wobbly...could probably solder back but i wouldn't know..

that did actually happen, the battery died in the immobiliser remote and she must have replaced it or tried to anyway...hmmm

It doesn't sound too bad, but of course I'm not looking at it. (It's not like the printed circuit board is broken, is it? Even that might be fixable/bodgeable temporarily). The LED can be unsoldered and replaced and the batteries for the VP (unlike VR) style remotes are available just about anywhere. Even the cases (at a price!) are, or were a few months ago, still available from Holden spare parts.

A car alarm/stereo install workshop might be a better bet for the repair, if that's all that is wrong with it.

It is also possible to replace both the remote and theft deterrent module with another set (module and remote) from a wrecker. The job is bit of a bitch to do as the module is buried under the dash above the glovebox, though. If going that way, there is a difference between S1 and S2 VP's in that the S2's flash the indicators in response to the state of the ant-theft system - armed/not armed - while S1's don't have that feature.

ring holden with vin number to get unlock key code, this can be cut by most locksmiths for between $10-$20.
ring mongoose for remote repair or a new one will cost $90 thay are at Coopers Plains and it will take 5 mins to code a new remote.
