Ok got a heating problem with my climate control.
Its always cold, so i thought it would be my heatercore.
So i did a coolant flush and blew out the heatercore thru the pipes where the heater tap joins.
Basically all i want to know is, would i still be able to blow the water thru the heater core if it was blocked.
I wouldnt think soo, so thats y i think its one of my sensors.
When i done error check on it, when car hot, all sensors read around 40deg
When cold it all reads normal in the 20-25deg range.
Cheers for ya input
What do you get if you check the temp. of the heater pipe, in front of the console on the driver's side with a thermometer? It should be pretty close to what the water temp. sensor indicated when you did the self check.
Maybe it's the solenoid that switches the heater tap, or the heater tap itself. Does the heater tap (under the bonnet) move when you switch the CC so that it's trying to heat the interior eg. full hot?
If you hold the lever on the heater tap in the open position, does the hetaer than work?
There is another (recent) thread on here that covers the solenoid pack.
The heater pipe is hot really hot, u can feel the temp thru the consol.
When i do seft check its always up high if car is warmed up cant remember what the temp said, but ill check it over again tonite.
Ill write down the figures it lists in the diag
The heater tap open n closes coz i got partner to sit in car n move it from 18 to 32 n the tap did open, thats y i thought blocked heater core.
So i did a flush n blew out the core thru the tubes, a heap blew out over 1lt.
There wasnt any pressure when i blew it all out.
Ill write down waht the diag notes tonite n get back ot ya.
Ur a legend man, always good help
Just thought of something else; is the engine getting to normal operating temp.?
Yeah she sits on 1/4 like normal.
i did have a 92deg thermostat in there, but when i did the flush i changed to a 82deg as the 92 stuffed up in a good 3months n car would sit on 3/4 all the time.
Since change thermostat its made no difference to the heater, but car runs alot cooler like when i first got it.
Would the heater core get hot if it was blocked.
I think the tap if good, coz the core would be cold all time if hte tap didnt open.
Heater hasnt worked in a good 6months n im jsut gettin sick of it now, havin to use the cold ac to demist windows.
Then when i turn it off the windows fog up again due to the moisture after it turns off, its a pain on a cold rainy night
OK ran the diag last night after a 20min drive with ac on with heater on 32.
It was pumpin out sum really nice cool air after a skate, even tho it was on 32.
Ambient temp was 27
Incar was 38 *WTF*
Evap was 25
Intake was 28
All the sensors work, except i got a flashing (5) which is sensensor goin off coz of the light, says it will flash with with iredesent light or sumthink cant remember.
But i think all me probs are to do with the in-car temp sensor, as it would be tryin to cool the car down to 32deg if it was selected at that temp, as its reading teh temp as higher than 32.
Ive not run a test yet where the car has been under 30 incar temp even first thing in the morn when its around 25deg n car is in the shade.
Whats ur thoughts, and where can i find the sensor?
rang holden, that incar sensor is no longer available, wreckers job
ok run a couple more daigs tha past day.
This is what i got with ac off, cc on 32deg
amb - 30
in-car - 48
intake - 28
evap - 27
This is what i got with ac off cc on 18deg
amb - 30
in car - 43
intake - 32
evap - 28
The only one that isnt right is the incar temp.
Callled holden, the sensor has been discontinued soo i gotta go a wreckers job.
OK ive pulled out the cc on w/e, found a hose that connects to the cc was not connected, just looks like a tube to supply air to the cc to keep cool or sumthink.
Anyway ive now got a lil bit of hot air comin thru.
Went to wreckers b4, they lookin into the sensor n ive gotta go back very soon to see what they have found out for me.
just got back from the wreckers, got a complete climate control unit for $20 without a face.
Turns out the temp sensor is in the front of the unit, that hose that i reconnected was the supply for the incar temp to the sensor, soo ive buggered the old one by not havin the hose connected.
So ima swap em tonite n see how it goes.
If u have changed ur headunit n took out the climate control make sure u check that u have reconnect the tube that connects to the bottom right hand side of the unit as that is the supply hose for the incar temp.
Make sure u connect it up or u wont get the reading right n wont get hot air.
