Default Resprayed VN in VL Walky Blue

Pic of my son's car after the 1st coat of Silver is on.Thanks to those folks on here who helped me track down the colour. It's the VL Group A Walkingshaw blue but it's called Panorama Silver.3 more coats of colour then we're onto the clear...The bumpers i repsrayed in the body colour with black outs. The bare look without the lame trolley strips goes well i think..Post sum more pics as we go along

I was going to do his bumpers in Black as it is a Ser 1 however we opted 4 the Ser 2 look with the colour coded bumpers. Both his original front & rear bumpers were trashed(previous owners) so we sourced 2 betta ones from the wreckers.1 was painted Silver when we got it(WTF..??)so we rubbed them with thinners & lightly sanded them back. They have 3 coats of primer under each bumper now.I repainted the window frames, the mirrors & door handles in Black with Aluminum flake.Looks great...

We made a giant spray booth here under the carport. We put up big tarps to prevent dust escaping around the neighbourhood.I'd ran out of mixed Blue at the time so that's why I stopped there. The next 3 coats of blue will go on 1 after the other. So far it's had 5 litres of Blue put on.

I've filled soo many, many dents in it.It looked like it had been in a smash up derby in a supermarket carpark with all the parking dents thanks to trolleys & inconsiderate ppl.

yeah i only used thinners on my bumpers, no sanding. no clear coat either so i'll be surprised if it lasts a year haha. i'm guessing you used thinner and sanded the paint work too? i like the colour coded bumpers but i couldn't do mine, no way i'd match the red of my car. if i re did the whole thing like you then maybe i will colour code, or possibly two-tone.

how come you put newspaper under where the bumpers go? it wouldn't matter if you got some paint there?

anyway good luck, can't wait to see some more pictures

I just meant material cost, ie paints etc seems alot more satisfying doing a job like that yourself

We painted black behind the bumpers that's why it's masked over.I didn't want the body colour back there coz if u look u can see behind the bumpers.I just thought it would look neater. The cost of the paint was $190 for 4 litres,
$80 for 20 litres of R102 Acrylic Thinners,
$70 for 4 litres of Acrylic Lacquer,
$40 for 2 litres GMH Low Gloss Black,
$80(approx) for sandpaper & White Spirits
All I've ever used was White Spirits, for cleaning & rubbing down.Solvent was used on the doors to remove the trolley strips.I used to work at Holdens during the VL- P's as a spray painter..so that's how i know how 2 spray. All the colour is on now with just the clear to go.
    & thanks 2 everyone 4 looking & asking questions..

oh ok, yeah my bumpers don't sit well.. they sag a bit and you can see the red behind them. would look much better if it was black behind there, i could probably actually do that with the leftover paint i have... thanks for the idea hahaha
