you shouldn't need to change anything i got a vr series 2 coilpack on my vn series 1 and it was a straight swap no need to change anything the dfi plug is identicle the three bolts underneath fit straight into the holes on the bracket easy swap

hi , just hooked up the coil pack from the vp , well ill be, nothing ,turns over thats it ! , maybe put the leads wrong, are the vp leads in a different order ?. Anyhow replaced with vn gear ,sprayed contacts with crc ,tightened up the female side of plug and the car runs at least, not fantastic but at least it didnt cut out, last time i took out the plug and gave it a spray it lasted 10 days before it konked out ! , normaly get out of car give it a wiggle , and away you go !. Anyhow been running a bit crappy of late, seems to be missing especiely when hot it nearly stalls, on the open road no worries !, thats one reason i wanna put a different pack/dfi in, cas was done not long ago, made no diff, leads done aswell., thanks........

the vp s2 coil pack is the same as the vr coil pack it has the numbers for the leads on the topas well they are all on same side of the coil pack?? so I guess that the one you got is not working or something like that

Thanks for reply , i left the old setup bolted on and just put the plug then leads on the vp model one so the coil pack just rested there ,turned it over nothing,oh well back to the drawing board !, wreckers want 90$ for a vn-1 set up ,if its o'k' beats 288$ for a new one. by the way, just to make sure standing in front of the car , which is no1 cylinder, is it the front drivers side (facing the radiator) then left front number 2 then back over to the other side for no3 etc ?, thanks..

it sounds like a loose wiring/bad connection problem with the plug connection. get some contact cleaner and clean it properly. make sure it's dry before pluggin it in again

Use CRC CO CONTACT CLEANER, i use all the time when buidling and cleaning computers, dont use regular CRC.
Also im abit lost with what your problem is, but we just upgraded from series1, to a VR coil pack, trhe conversion is a straight swap using coil pack and DFI, we got the VR leads with ours aswell, set us back $150 from a reputable wrecker.

Do a fault code test thingo. Sounds so familiar to my brothers VN, after driving with a stuffed coil pack for so long hes done a TPS (throttle position sensor) and its terrible at idle, stalls and a pain in the ass. Id say they like to go with the coil pack.

Yer could be right on the tps !, when i first pull up o'k', then after a second or two idle drops down and car starts to run s!@#house sometimes is worse than others, and there seems to be a lag in takeoff like the throttle is slightly stuck!, but when its underway no probs normally , go figure ?, thanks.........

Ok sounds like TPS to me, sounds exactly likes my brothers VN which is about to get a new TPS put in.
The other thing is, the accelerator cable on series 1 is a pain for coming loose, you will see where it meets the engine, theirs a bracket and a bolt on each side, make sure their tight, tight as possible. Our likes to come loose and the bolt will just float around the cable, makes response and over all power a pain, but wont affect it at idle really.
