    Default VN / VP 5 litre engines......

    Hey guys, quick question, were the VN / VP injected 5 litre engines all 304's?

    Yeah man you shoulda known that.
    All injected holden 5ltrs were the 304, carbied were 308

    You were probably trying to say EFI = 304 and Carby = 308, which isn't the case.


    Any 5L V8 from 85 onwards (not sure of the month, but somewhere through there) are all 304s. Which makes SOME VKs 304s. This was because of the Group A racing rules. Not totally sure, but i think all VLs were 304 aswell.

    Whoops, yeah you know i mean 304.
    But yeah, i knew the Vl's had the 304 but didnt they have a carby and injected motors?

    Nope. Only Carby motors. (Walkys aren't made by holden)

    This is the quote I was originally referring to. Again, technically, a Vl had an Injected v8 in it, limited edition or not.

    Was a Vl for sale with a V6? No. Was a Vl for sale with an Injected V8? Yes.

    The question was asked if a Vl came out with an Injected V8. Yes it did, in the Walky, which I believe is considered a VL SS Group A Commodore.
    So still a Vl, still a Commodore, regardless of whether or not it was modified/special edition/whatever.

    750 out of 100,000 is hardly worth mentioning to the extent you have. He was talking about an injected 304 motor as in VN onwards, not a TTB Group A motor.


    Yes there factory fitted (in HSVs factory), but 5L VLs in Exec/Berlina/Calais spec are carbys. We both know what the guy was asking.

    No it didn't. It was fitted by Holdens Aftermarket Modifier.

    Were going round in circles mate.Even the thread starter (which weve gone way off topic) was talking about run of the mill commodores from the holden factory. Not anything from HSV.

    The Holden Commodore VL SS Group A SV was a vehicle developed and built FOR Holden by TWR and the newly established Holden Special Vehicles company. Released in 1988, it was BASED on the Holden Commodore VL SS. 750 examples were built, meeting the minimum requirement of 500 units necessary to allow the model to be homologated for racing under international Group A Touring Car regulations. It replaced the existing Holden Commodore VL SS Group A (which had been developed by Peter Brock's HDT Special Vehicles company} as Holden's Group A race car.
