    Default Major VN issues

mate of mines vn has been having issues with stalling etc. we have run codes and get
21 Throttle Position Sensor - Voltage Too High
33 MAP Sensor - Voltage Too High
    and 42 EST.

We have been able to work out that the EST fault is possibly in the loom somewhere, not too sure tho as for the other two i am stumped. Car idles at about 300rpm in park and about 100rpm in drive or reverse. i will try to add videos as soon as i can.

Exhaust smells extremely rich of petrol, possibly linked to TPS or MAP sensor not too sure. any ideas?

umm, is that 300/100 rpm on a tacho?? or just a guess cause the fuel pump cuts out at anything lower than 500rpm
also you say stalling , does it start strait away afterwards or does it take a while
and also you may be experiansing a bad batch or fuel, or faulty injectors, etc

With the TPS by adjusting it can you open the throttle body full and wind the TPS around till it is full aswell to say that the TPS is fully open with the TB would that work?

Why do you think its the wiring? I would be saying DFI module and coil pack before wiring, unless you have some good evidence its not.
Also id start by replacing both the MAP and TPS sensor, if you have problems then, then start looking for the cause, but its most likely just the sensors. again these are all common problems.

tom - a mechanic had told me to check the wires by wiggling them and if it started again it was a fault in the loom. i had a similar problem with my vs, spent $300 replacing the DFI only to find it was a loose connection of the loom to the computer.

CSL - yeah this is based off the tacho, i have videos of this and have some other vids of what the car is like so as soon as i find my cable i will upload them, as for bad batch of fuel it shouldnt be as this has been happening for a while from what i have been told. if the wires are wiggled as stated above generally it will go again.

Bz Kn33z - havent tried it as of yet will have to wait until tomorrow night when he gets home from work.

aries75au - can not see and exposed wires anywhere, did have a similar problem with another wire going into the DFI a few months back that had started to snap inside the wire coating, didnt notice this until the wires were played with, that specific wire has since been rectified and the problem isnt with this on ethis time.

i take that it runs bad? i serviced a vs the other day and at idle the tacho was sitting on the lowest mark, the one nearly on zero, but bumped up easily enough when revved so the tacho was dodgy

yeah it sounds like he is going to have to take to an auto elec for the problem with the wiring so i guess they will check everything then.

try cleanin the absolute manifold temp sensor, it mat have gunked up.
Try replacing the control unit and memcal with one from the wreckers ( 2 plugss 2 screws).
sounds like the control unit or memcal has died and it has fouled the engine in the process.

also check you battery and alternator voltages, I doubt all those codes are real, seems like a fault in the circuitry.

hehe,, not sure but you could do whats suggested for under $25.00.
