ive run into a little bit of a brick wall in regards to my fuel pump....
i was under the impressions that all V8's from VN up to VR had internal and external fuel pumps.... pulled my tank out tonight and found that there is only one internal low pressure pump???
would it be possible to keep the stock internal low pressure pump and use it to feed a fuel cell with a high pressure external pump to feed the fuel rail?
if anyone has some info about a setup like that could you post something up cos i need to ahve it done in less than a month to have my car running
serves me right for leaving it late tho cos its been sitting around for 6 months...
It's an internal high pressure pump, according to my gregory's manual, V8 utes from 91 onwards had only an internal high pressure pump. If you were going to use the internal pump to feed a fuel cell and then use an aftermarket high pressure pump out of that, you'd probably be best served getting a low pressure pump out of a sedan or wagon. Not sure if it'd fit into your sender unit though, might need to change that over as well.
Beau Duke: Man, I'm never gonna get outta this car again. I'm gonna live in it, I'm gonna eat in it and I'm gonna make sweet love to it!
Luke Duke: You mean you're gonna make sweet love IN it.
Beau Duke: Oh no, I'm gonna have sex with it.

What i would do is run a low pressure pump out of the fuel cell (holley red or something along those lines), into a 1 litre or so surge tank, then into a high pressure pump to feed the engine (VN 5 litre, VL turbo etc. or whatever will suit your needs). I have done EFI conversions into early Holdens and that i what i have always used (with a standard tank though) and never had any fuel issues!
or is there an upgraded equivalent to the standard pump that will fit in the tank??
i already have a bosch 044 pump that i was going to fit but then realised it doesnt have one...
walbro 255lt/hr pump goes in with a simple swap of the plug
