acrylic tends to get that orange peel look to it where as 2pac if it is applied correctly will look as smooth as glass if you live in sa I can put you onto a really good painter although he doesn't do private jobs any more he is one of the best 2pac painters in sa

aries75au,when using different types of paints you can get the peel effect,it all depends on the painter/skill and what conditions are for painting either in a booth or room with heat lamps or none at all.I have some mates who are painter and a couple of mechanis that can paint.
Blown V6 hatch is correct, with sealing the acrylic paint with a 2k primer filler or high fill. But you could also use a acrylic primer if you wanted and then an undercoat.2k will stick and can be used with acrylic. But if you want a top notch finish use a 2k filler/primer.If you get it paint in 2pac get them to do as many coast of clear as possible helps the paint not to fade and has that glas look effect.
I painted my missus panel van bonnet and doors and gaurds in 2pac (with 5horsepower compressor and reg with my special gun/gravity fed) in the shed without heat lamps (once panted moved them out into the sun)and came up pretty good did it in a custom plum purple, little bit of peel but will give it a cut and buff should come up good.

2 pak dries hard and is pretty tough..... acrylic is soft and is pretty much always letting something off ...thats why u need to seal the acrylic with a 2k sealer if u wana paint over acrylic or it wont stick and will eventualy just bubble and flake away..

acylic can come up just as good as 2 pack if done properly and is good for the beginner as its easy to fix if u mess it up.. and also if u happen to dent your car the acrylic will flex with it unlike 2 pack where it the paint will break and chip away

Acrylic is ok......However 2K is 1000% more durable! For a car that is used daily and sits out in the whether, 2K is definately the go!

You can paint 2pac over acrylic paint/primer,it will stick have painted more than a handful of engine bays and gaurds this way and have had no problems with not sticking or bubbling. You can get away with it.But the best way is to use 2pac primer/high fill and then a undercoat and then your 2pac fancy colour paint/and with as many clear coats as possible for your mirror finish.

lol yea ive painted 2 pak over acylic primer it will stick but its always the best to prime things with what the basecoat was designed for..lol

give it awhile and the paint will eventualy lift and turn to ****.. if u just whack 2 pak over fresh acrylic or newish... if the acylic is many years old it would probably have evaporated its solvents and its fine to paint over..

Well VLdamo please explain to me why the engine bays i have painted havent bubbled or started peeling???Plus if it was going to bubble or flake it should have done it by now, specially because its in the engine bay and it gets nice and hot in there and doesnt treat paint that good.I reckon my paint jobs have come up good for doing it an unusual way,one engine bay that i had painted/the car has been driven daily ever since 3weeks after painting it and still looks good (5 years ago),this was in an xw fairmont. But hey i was just mentioning this method of how i had done it before/experimenting.But most of the time now when i want to paint anything i paint in 2pac or an acrylic laquer, when i use 2pac i get it back to bare metal weld up the holes or if it has rust the panels or body i cut out small peices of sheet metal and weld it in and grind it back and have a nice thin layer of bog and etch prime it and highfill and then my basecoat and then my paint and clear. But im no expert.

lol i dont know why lol.... but im just saying what ive experienced and the reasons u shouldnt paint over acyrlic with 2 pak without sealing it off .. lol its just what ive experienced and been taught lol....
