    Default Painting old steering wheel

    Hey i have an old autotecnica Sports steering wheel i think its leather or something. it has Red on the outside of it and i have been hearing people painting them with vinil paint. does anyone have pictures cause i have satin black paint to do it but does it peal fade and rub off?

    Clean clean clean all the oil off it.

    no matter what you do it will peel off, flake and rub off. it is in your hands all the time and the oils and sweat in your skin will cause it to deteriate over time

    yea its ok on door trims and stuff but i wouldnt put it on a steering wheel... id just get it recovered if u dont like the colour

    Only lasts about 3 months before small cracks appear. The wheel is softish foam which allows the paint to crack. When I put the paint on nice and think it cracked very quickly.

    Clue - dont put too much on and get the wheel nice and clean.

    I'm happy with my black VP Calais wheel. Much better that the dirty old VN one I had.
