    Default VN Problem, Help needed

Recently i've been having an unusual problem with my '89 VN Calais,

It doesn't happen all the time but happens without much warning, the car feels heavier than usual, a lil sluggish, when at a complete stop or even rather slow, when i push the accelerator the revs just completely drop almost to 0, if i take my foot off the accelerator for maybe half a second then reapply it the car just takes off, if i keep my foot on the accelerator the car dies, and its hard to get restarted, normally pumpin the accelerator like crazy will get her going again and only if i rev the absolute guts out of her for about 30 seconds otherwise it just keeps doing it, its starting to get really annoying.

Fuel pump has been discounted simply because its been replaced and still works done the whole "listen while its turning over thing" and is working fine.

    Any suggestions would be great.

    J

    thanks

any other possible reasons why it'd be doing it?

    Just to have bases covered.

Coolant temp sensor could be dead.

When my fuel pressure regulator went, when i pressed the go peddle there was a pause and seemed like it was going to stall then it would kick in and go. The same symptoms occursed when the coolant temp sensor went, i thought the regulator died again and made the mech test his work, but ti was the coolant temp sensor.

Check your fuel pressure mate.Make sure the fuel pump is supplying enough fuel flow and sufficient pressure. Also check the fuel reg for leakage.Very common on VN to VR's.Just pull the vaccum hose off the top of the fuel reg and check for fuel,if fuel is present you have a leaking fuel reg that is leaking fuel into the inlet manifold and making it hard to start. Also loosing fuel pressure whilst starting and driving. But if this is not the case would check the resistance on the ignition leads,if too high a resistance would suggest replacement. But to me sounds like a fuel problem.
