Smile Q Regarding black plastic firewall cover..thing..

Hey just before I run and put it back on...

Does anyone know if you can still buy them new from Holdens? NOS?

Or anywhere else that may sell them new?

Mine is cracked so I wouldnt mind a new one if I can get my hands on one..

Im talking about the plastic cover under the wiper arms below the windscreen.. pic below:

I'm pretty sure you can still buy them new from Holden. I bought one for my car about 18 months ago. Give Holden a call and find out! They are the same all the way to VS so they should still have them in stock.

Yeh, easy as, just take the rubber sealing strip that seals the engine area off the top, take your wiper arms off and pull the whole thing up, just be careful fitting the new one as they are a little on the flimsy side

I think I paid $15 for mine from CommodoreFrenzy on Ebay and that was in very good condition, nearly like new which was good as my old one was totally stuffed

Mine had a crapload of built up leaves and twigs etc in the corners I just grabbed the vaccum and sucked all the small bits, and pulled the rest out by hand. depending on where you keep your car you may have to do this every month to keep it clean like I do but you can get it clean again without having to remove plastic

i checked the price from holden about 1 year ago and they were about $30. I decided to keep my cracked one...They seem to go back on surprisingly well even when cracked a bit.

I went to Holdens today and they have none left at all. The guy sent me to Motor Traders and they had 1 left down at Lonsdale which is on its way to me for Monday

Apparently they are just called Water Deflectors lol

I got the new one on now, much better. No more cracks

I guess old ones cracking is to be expected as they're only crap plastic.. After 17 years in the sun it just gets too brittle.
