    Default Chopping Springs

Does anyone know someone in adelaide that will chop vn springs? preferably someone who has done it before, and wont **** it up. They will have to be willing to remove springs, chop them then reinstall them.

I will pay of course, i just need to know how much. Thanks.

(Yes i know its illegal, and i know its not the safest or best option. but i owe money and im broke)

Just save every bit of cash you possibly can for as long as it takes dude.

Don't get your springs chopped, apart from as you said, it being illegal and unsafe, it messes with your cars handling and throws everything off balance.

Good a good idea at all. It will cause more problems for you, then you will really be up **** creek when your shocks can't take the extra weight from you having chopped springs, if you are broke now, you will be in a worse position when things start messing up from chopped springs.

There's an expensive way, and a cheap way, there is an easy way, and hard way. Chopping springs doesn't fall into any of those categories. It falls into the stupid way category.

Besides, when you go for lower springs, generally you need different shocks too, so they can take the extra weight put on them by shorter springs. If you are willing to put your safety at risk so you can make your car look good, then your priorities might be a bit out of whack dude. If you are broke, you shouldn't be worrying about modifying your car.

Because $220 for a set of King Springs all round is so bloody expensive. Especially considering they are safer, the car will handle better, ride better, perform better... And it wont void insurance either.

But hey, you're a tightass who prefers to have a low car that will handle and ride like **** and not only put your life at risk (which nobody cares about anyway) but put the lives of those around you on the road at risk.

Plus if some idiot out there WILL chop springs for you (which i honestly hope THERE ISN'T ANYONE OUT THERE WHO WILL DO THAT), you would pay around the $220 mark in labour pulling the shockers etc out and all that stuff too. Don't **** around with suspension or brakes. Without those 2 components in good condition and done properley, you are risking safety, and are up **** creek.

Well it's either people bull**** you and tell you what you want to hear, then you end up having a tonne of problems on your hands from driving around on chopped springs, or we be honest with you and save you from risking other people on the road, and your own safety. If you wanna lower your car man, save up and do it properley. I saved up and have spent almost $3000 on suspension so far and i haven't finished yet.

Saving money sucks because it takes so long, but if you are into car modification, and don't have any money, there isn't much you can do. I know a bloke that chopped his springs in his VH SL with an angle grinder a few years back. I refused to ever ride in his car until he got proper springs and shocks and let's just say that VH is no longer on the road, nor could it ever be again.

You don't wanna be driving along at 80kms and have a shocker snap on you because you chopped the springs and didn't get proper lowered springs and shocks. You can easily kill yourself and others on the road. May sound silly, but it's true.

Ohhhhhh, well, considering it's been on those shows, it MUST be alright and safe then. *wipes sweat away*, well THAT'S a relief............

Just because you may have seen it on an american show, doesn't make safe. Besides, one of them is hosted by Xzibit FFS

By all means chop your springs if you want to be tight, but don't whinge, bitch or complain when your still broke and have to spend triple or more the amount of money having extra things corrected such as shocks and strut towers after cutting your springs, and don't have a suprised look on your face, or fish around for excuses when a shock snaps from extra weight standard shocks weren't meant to take, your car goes sideways, you hit another car and injure someone.

Don't think it won't happen, because it's happened before, and it can very well happen again dude. I wanted my car lowered straight away, but i had to wait while i saved. It's a good life practise to gain as well, think your broke now, wait until you get married / have kids / want to buy a house.

Save about $700, and you can get yourself a full set of King Springs and front and rear Monroe shorter shocks to take the extra weight. And your car handling will improve WHILE your car looks good in a low stance, as opposed to your car looking good low but it driving like a sack of dog **** that's on fire and rolling down a hill

You guys are a bunch of idiots! I know im gonna get flamed for this as I have before. NEVER EVER had a problem with chopped springs. I also did it coz I was broke... Get over it, its not ur car that's getting the springs chopped... Also, let me guess "oh you run the risk of causing a crash" blah blah blah... Bullsh!t.

Not having a go at any individual, just sick of people talking sh!t about chopped springs...

Also the one and only Chip Foose cut springs in a car he finished then wasnt happy with the ride height.

Now im gonna go find my flame suit!

LOL, i'm not gonna be a keyboard warrior, all myself and a few others were saying is, instead of being a tightass, save up and buy some decent springs instead of doing it the cheap ****ty way.

But hey, go for it. Just because 1 person had no problem with chopped springs, doesn't cut it for me up against 1 person i know plus countless people my mates know who stupidly cut springs as well and had their shockers **** themselves

The who the **** is Chip Foose? LOL
