now i no i supposed to mark the flange so i could line the tailshaft back up but i swapped the box out of another car so wouldnt help anyway.. just wondering how can i line the tailshaft back up so that i wont get vibration

it only matters if your splitting the driveshaft itself. it's beter to mark the driveshaft to diff flange because you know that as it was in the car it didn't vibrate, however a driveshaft is balanced as a assembly so it shouldn't matter. i never mark the joke to gearbox. only the shaft to diff flanges. seeing as you haven't, just put it back and go for it

No, but the rear one should have a paint mark from factory. Line that back up and it should be right.
next time mark with a file, last time i tried i used a paint pen and it wore off.

im putting it in another trans so marking it wouldnt have helped, the trans with the mark on it is somewhere in the bush, it fell off my trailer ok

it does happen. i have matched 2 different halves before and it's been fine but on another it wasn't. marking it is just cheap insurance, doesn't cost anything and it isn't going to hurt anything either. generally if you maintain the correct orientation between the 2 universals you should be fairly safe

when you change the trans just unbolt the tailshaft at the uni joint and drop it down, then you can just drop the trans or pull the motor and trans out... personally i reckon removing a trans outof the car is sooo much easier, ive removed 2 transmisisons in the car, and 2 out of the car, i can rip a motor out in a hour anyway with the trans sooo :P
If you do get vibration just undo the 4 bolts at the diff and rotate it from there till your happy. only takes a few minutes.
not undoing the bolts more than once, as most of you no they strip easily
