Anyone know where to get a new remote for a VP?

i've only got 1 and the plastic bit you but on your keyring is broken ( i know common thing ) anyway does anyone know where to get a new one from and how much?

you could try ebay? they have heaps of that stuff on there although mainly for vr etc it mayb wortha crack

but how do you get them calibrated for your car? if i found one?

im pretty sure u take it to a look smith with your original key and they do it all for you, thats how it worked with my keys

If its the flat backed one, theres a company in Melb (there store is on ebay) that can program one for you, or send you one and holden can program it

If its the curved back one, you will never find one, nor be able to get it re programed.

You used to be able to buy the outer casing from holden and just swap your remotes internals over or you could get the complete remote new from them too and get mongoose to reprogramme it for you.You can also get them to setup a old one (sourced from another car from wrecker etc ) to suit your car but you need a working old remote for them to get it to work....maybe they can use your car ..not sure .The most common fault with them is the battery ...the led works fine but if the battery isnt good it doesnt put out a good enough signal and doesnt work.

When i got one for my Statesman i got it from Holden,cost me $115.They got the number from my remote and i picked up the new one a few days later programmed and ready to go.

Keep in mind throughout VP there are 3 different remotes. The round backed mongoose one is the one you can't get anymore.

Yeah i just bought the outer casing from coventrys (in W.A dont know if there over east) cost about $10 to $20 i think was a while ago though and just swapped the internals over

Both the flat backed and rounded back ones have 2 buttons (the other only having 1 i think)

Mine is rounded, has 2 buttons, and they aren't available anymore. Which is ****ed, as i only got 1 remote when i bought the car

if its mongoose theres alarm joints that deal with mongoose, melbourne car radio in melbourne does, if its a mongoose one it will have a rectangular casing with no groove for your finger undernieth, those we can only replace the casing not the internals

if its a holden one with 2 buttons, and the groove undernieth see you holden dealer we have em! thats all i remember we dont do alot of them anymore

I bought a whole new remote from local GMH dealership.

They told me there was only one in stock in the whole country.

I ordered it.
I dunno if they were full of **** about their only being one.
I just pulled the guts out of my old one and swapped them over.
Holden can reprogram them too, but they charge a fortune.

I think the whole remote cost me around $55.

Your Being scammed mate, I just got one in NZ Christchurch from a dealer ordered it from holden aust, (not another dealer it wasn't NOS)

A question about the remote the same as Stealthy's, I noticed my batery is dieing, can I just undo the back and replace the battery without doing any harm???

Holden told me to contact Mongoose for the remote but gave no promise if they would supply one, They don't even know there number.

Yeah turns out i was given the wrong information. Theres plenty of the ones i have in my post above. Holden told me $120 for a remote programmed. And i bought one off a guy on ebay who said he pad $75.

if its the same as the flat back remotes yes just undo the screw to take the back off and change the battery, did mine a little while ago and it looks like a midget sized AA battery, the size is 23AE and they are 12volt
