how much they worth and what sort should i get?
That depends on your driving style and car setup! - if it's just a stock motor, stock diff etc, I'd jsut recommend running a stock replacement clutch.

Even if it's a little bit tricked up, I'd personally still run the stock clutch - think of it as a 'safeguard' against serious gearbox/diff damage, The soft factory clutch is designed to work with the gearbox and diff and can potentially save them seeing crazy forces!

And basically, if it didn't slip when you were gunning it when the clutch was good, you don't need any better!

As an indication, my 'stock' clutch (v8 diaphragm, stock otherwise) only ever slipped when doing a 3rd gear two wheel burnout @ Calder, on slicks..

anything i should really know before i buy?
Repco or any of the other mainstream car shops are a ripoff unless you have a trade discount. I'd highly recommend a shop called 'sunbury brake and clutch', which I've bought from before on eBay.. (link is to exact same clutch setup that I ran in a heavy duty application, and can't fault).

anything i should know before i install? my dad n i will do it, any tips?
When you're aligning the clutch plate between the pressure plate and the flywheel, if you don't have the proper tool to align it (or don't have a spare old t5 input shaft), you can align the center pretty much spot on going by the edge of the clutch/pressure plates. You can use your fingers to position the clutch plate pretty much dead on by feeling for spacing along the outside edge of the clutch/pressure plate

Also remember inspect the flywheel for cracks and all that kinda stuff - if it's got bulk grooves in it, you should get it machined.

When you're removing the gear shifter stick, the two allen key bolts can be a prick to remove, so get some wd40 on them and the PERFECT allen key. If you're lucky they'll come right out - otherwise you might have to cold chisel a groove in there for a screwdriver or something.

ummm.... oh and be careful with the routing of the clutch cable when you're re-assembling anything! specially if youve got extractors, just make sure you keep it clear of the zorst!

That's enough out of me! - Good luck!

i have an exhaust, pod, chipped ecu and extractors,

I ran a stock (well v8 pressure plate, but same as stock really) clutch behind a blown cooled and spooled v6, with no dramas (except for the 3rd gear burnout on slicks at the track - but that's expected)...

Up to you, I don't think you'll notice any difference between a heavy duty and a normal clutch, other than the fact that the stock clutch will be a bit more forgiving if you keep on dropping it

Its only on autos that it has a top up pipe and dipstick. The box has a filler hole and a drain hole on the side. Obviously the filler is the top one and drain is the bottom one. Is on the drivers side.

The gearboxes take 2 Litres of Valvoline DURAGEAR 75W-85 or equivalent according to the Valvoline website. There isn't clutch fluid for these gearboxes as it isn't a hydraulic clutch.

VT has an expensive clutch. VN is just the normal garden variety type.

You will find that the pedal will not need to be depressed much to disengage the gearbox. No adjustment is possible when this happens, just a worn out clutch.
