Steering column rubbing

Hey guys
were workin on a mates VN with him last night and we put in a manual pedal assembly, we dropped the steering column down and now we have put it back together but the steering column bolts that are on a uni joint just past the firewall are rubbing on the firewall now making it difficult to turn.. any ideas why?

Did you remove the column from the rack? if you did then did you hook it back up to the rack before bolting it all up to the firewall and under dash. Not bolting to the rack first can caus big misallignment issues.

is it also a calais you are putting a manual in? cos i know with mine, we had problems with steering column not lining up and had to move the mounts on it to suit, apprently auto and manual vps (in my case i mean, maybe vns the same?) have different columns ?!
