I'm looking at buying a VP Calais from my Mum's best friends nephew. Just wondering if what he wants is around the mark. Had a bit of a squiz on carsales, autotrader etc. but cant find anything with the 355 motor

VP Calais unsure of what year
355 stroker motor done approximately 50000 kms
worked auto spent around 2500 he said
its defected, but when he sells it, itll be off (full inspection at regency)
18's unsure of tyre condition
paint is in good condition no rust etc
unsure about interior

im not sure if it comes with the old springs, exhaust etc all the illegal sh1t. I dont know anything else about it except its red over silver.

He's asking $9000 which i think is a fair price.

Also if anyone knows what to look for when buying a vp calais in particular that would be great.

Yeah man, that's an alright price. Got any pics? If it's straight and clean, runs well, and is in general good working order, i'd jump on it mate.

ive only seen it close up a few times and everything is clean as
looked real good before the defect, havent seen it now tho

and hes selling it cause he bought a 4wd, said his young days are over

ok quick update on this, defect isnt quite off yet

motors done 60000-70000kms

trans has a histall, and was bulit by someone who builds trans for drag cars, has only done 2000kms

comes with stock calais rims with good tyres and 18s with two half tread tyres only

comes with the old springs etc

has a few little dents in the front quarter, he clipped a hangaroo

interior is mint everything in working order etc

brand new radiator

brand new vt drilled and slotted front brake setup

it has extractors and exhaust

tint

so yer, what you guys think on the price, a few more peoples opinions wouldnt go astray haha. The old man keeps telling me its not worth it, its not worth it, and its ****in me off cause ya just cant tell him.

Whats it defected for, and how much work and cash would be involved in getting it off, also got to look is it even legal how it is, no point in always avoiding the police or not driving incase you get a defect. As for price i have no idea/

Providing HE is getting the defect off, go for it.


If he's selling it to you for that price defected, don't touch it.

When its off defect it will be up for sale. it was defected for too low and 18s

Keep in mind that $$ amount would also get you into a Manual LS1 SS.

Yeh im aware of that, my brother drives a vx ss manual but its just not for me, i drive a vn s1 manual at the moment and i like it, i just want something with a bit more poke and the luxuries, this seems to be the go. Gonna try and knock him down to 8k pending a test drive

Yeh that sounds like a fair price id personally knock the price down to $8000 to $8500 if he's happy with that but still a awsome deal.

Yeah theres no doubt its worth the price, i was just saying, if your after a real quick car, a 355 isn't the way to go, it'll basically be at the peak of its performance.
