    Default VP Boot Leak

    Hello All
My daughter has a VP Commodore Sedan.
She has water leaking into the boot when it rains or the car is washed.
She says that she has checked the tail lights and replaced the seals.
The boot lid rubber is OK.
She re-sealed the side windows with new sealant.
Apparently the water seems to be coming in through the Tail Lights.
Any one have any suggestions on this one? :b:

Yeh this a common topic that has been covered a few times on this board.

She seems to have the right idea by replacing the seals, but I would reccomend getting some clear silicone and running it all along the top of the light where it seals from the light to the body. Any small gap will result in water seeping down into the tail-lights and then into the boot.

It happens to pretty much every VnVp so don't stress.

I replaced the seals last weekend. I put silicone along the top of the lights (in the gap between the 2 plastic parts) while they were out and let that set. I then used windscreen sealant (flexible) to apply the new rubber seals, then more sealant on the rubber before putting the lights back in. It poured rain today and there's no sign of leaking anywhere

    - BekVP's got the right idea.

Its VERY important to silicone around where the coloured plastic meets the black plastic on the tail lights (has to be done off the car). Sometimes the coloured bit has actually cracked away from the black bit and this means they will have to be replaced (unless you just fill it full of silicon...). A small amount of silicon on the seal that contacts the body will also help!
