    Default How illegal are LEDs???

I bought a set of blue LED parkers and windscreen washers today off eBay (only coz they were cheap :P ) How illegal are they?? The washers can be switched off so they're OK, but the parkers can't...

    Technically, very illegal...

The washer jets are usually chrome (illegal) and they break all rules regarding lights and colours.

Parkers must be white... again, defect.

You cant have anything chrome in view of the driver, e.g chrome wiper blades, bonnet. Because the sun reflects badly off chrome and could caus an accident. Makes sense to some degree, but then theirs chrome bullbars, aerials. Heck even mirrors have a chrome backing lol.

Yeah the bullbars and all that dont really make sense, when some like mirrors and stuff are a bog standard item lol.

I think the rule is somthing like, your not allowed anything more reflective than the paint on ur car. Somthing like that anyways

I too remember hearing something to the effect of of "if it's more reflective than the shiniest stock part on the front of the car, get rid of it". That makes chrome washed jets defectable.

That aside, coloured LEDs in your parkers and washer jets look badly retarded, so just don't do it

All lights visible from the front of the car shall be either white or amber unless you are an authorized emergency vehicle. So in that case it is a defectable item .

If u really want the LED washer jets paint them black or colour code them (chromes **** neways) and wiring in a switch so u can turn them off while driving i think its a silly rule i see them more of a warning light than a defectable light but thats not wat the law is.

I have blue/green parkers in my Porsche (not LEDs but) and no cops have even questioned them yet.
And I'd rather have a nice light setup that suits the car, than a shopping list on a commodore

Nope, just a very stock standard 3800. My theory is that if I get a more powerful engine put in, my transmission will **** itself quicker, which is not in my best interests right now

Whoever wrote that the shiniest part of the Calais is chrome could be right, there's lots of shiny chrome bits on my car, although none of them are on the bonnet, or anywhere on the front of the car for that matter...
