Hey all,
So its come the time for me to purchase a Workshop Manual for the GTS. This is where my delema lies. Whats the best one, the Haynes or Max Ellerys. As far as I was told today, Gregory's have merged with Haynes, hence the non gregories option. What manual do you have and why do you like it? Im specifically looking for more V8 info then anything, so if any V8 owners with manuals could comment I would be thankfull.
Edit: Just came back from Autobarn and they stock a Gregory's manual for 88-93 5.0L cars, it has a picture of a Atlas Grey VN SS on the cover, this looks the goods since its just got 5.0L info, so I should have more info then the joint V6&V8 manuals?
Oppinions?

Someone told me at Repco that the gregory one wasnt that great but to use the other one they had which I cant remember the name so maybe its the Max Ellerys one?
NO NO NO DO NOT BUY MAX ELLERYS!!!!
I can't warn you enough, do some search on max ellery he is an idiot. I have the VN one right here, i bought it because it had more pages haha so i thought it would be more comprehensive. It has more spelling mistakes the 3rd grader's essay, the information is either wrong, or for a falcon. Even some of the pictures are from early commodores, like VH and VK lol. I cant warn you enough do not buy max ellerys. Get a factory workshop manual if you can afford to otherwise get gregories or haynes.
Holden Commodore/Statesman/Caprice 1989-93 Gregory's Part No. 258
Series VN, VG, VQ, VP. Vehicle Type -Sedan, Wagon, Utility. Engines - 5.0 litre (8 cyl). Trim Levels - Executive, S, SS, Berlina, Calais.
Thats the one I was looking at getting.
Go to the computer outpost site & have a look there. You can buy the factory manuals for about $40 each. These are a lot more comprehensive than any of that other crap.
I bought that one above, seems like a good book from what ive read so far.
The above book will come in handy and is your money well spent. Just glad you didnt buy max ellery's, actually if you can afford to get a copy, have a read its pretty funny unless your trying to use it to work on a car.
The gregories manuals seem to be pretty good for torque settings aswell as most DIY jobs.
Ive got that gregories book that u have mack i use that mostly i think its great but i also have a max elleries that came with the car and ive found wen eva the gregories doesnt have wat im lookin 4 the max elleries does so i dunno wat dribble toms goin on about?

Not being a smartass, but the max ellery is crap in MY opiion. read how to remove a vn door lol its so wrong it aint funny. Also in the fuel section it goes on about falcon tank sizes wtf i bought a commodore manual lol. Their the only two sections i've read of the VN manual caus the rest isnt worth my time. Max ellery has a bad reputation with the older car manuals, i dont know how good his manuals are for newer cars, but what ive read of the VN one theirs not much of an improvement.
