    Default Oil Pressure? Too High

Ok guys once again i need some advice,

My vn sieries 1 seems to have a pressure problem 1st it cracked the oil pressure sender at the top were the plug goes in and kept blowing the fuel pump fuse, So i replaced that and all looked fine. Then a few driving/testing hours later i noticed that now it pops the dip stick out and sprays oil everywere.

So i guess my question would be is 1, Has anyone ever had this happen before and 2, Does anyone know anything that i may be able to look at that might fix the problem.

    Cheers

if it pops the dipstick out it has worn rings causing exhaust gas blow-by.... and its pressurising the crankcase until the dipstick blows out...

I don't think oil pressure is your problem most likely your crank case ventilation PCV is blocked allowing pressure to build and pop the dipstick out. Locate PCV valve and remove it and give it a rattle and use some throttle body cleaner if it's stuck until it does rattle. Also remove a rocker cover and check for a build up of gunk if so you may need to put thought some nulon engine oil flush. As with the fuel pump fuse blowing your fuel pump could be giving up the ghost mabye shorting internally?

Do as SS Beast says... First check to make sure that it is not just high crankcase pressure. Which can be caused by a blocked pcv(clean), worn rings, or a hole in a piston.( do a compression test)
At the same time of testing install a oil pressure gauge and read the actual pressure.
High oil pressure could be due to
    a) Incorrect type oil if recently serviced.
    b) Filter fitted incorrectly or a blocked filter and siezed relief valve.( fairly unlikely)
c)a bigend or main bearing turning and blocking off an oil gallery for the crankshaft. If this is the case the engine will not last too long at all in this condition!!!!!
It could cost you a cranshaft, rods and a block if it is.
I hope that for your sakes this is not the case but have this checked out properly before it costs you lots of money.
Lets hope it is something more simple like the PCV.
    Good luck!

yep, check this. on a s1 it's at the front of the manifold, you should see a small black tube making a upside down "U" shape, the PCV valve fits straight down into the manifold

ok its not the PCV and the oil is within the right range so looks like i might have to look at the rings will be the first time i have changed the rings in a car (done plenty of bikes)
hopefully i can get it all done before the next race meet in may $$$ are a bit low right now so might have to wait a few weeks, thanks for all your help guys
