    Default Heater control problems

    ok, 2 problems...

1....the heater vent wont change from recycle to windscreen to face etc, its stuck on floor, the dial moves but no change in vents.

2... the heater switch wont work on power level 1 or 2, will work for 3 and 4 though.

any one know what the problem could be or how to fix, I bought another switch off ebay but still the same problem. pain in the arse tryin to drive with the windscreen fogging up. cheers

I'm not sure on what vehicle you are talking about, it says your ride is a VT but you have posted in th VN-VP section.
Problem 1 could be that it is losing vacuum. Check all the vacuum hoses related to the heater particularly the thin one that goes the the rear of the intake manifold. Also check the vacuum tank.
Problem 2 sound like a fan speed resistor problem but that is usually the case when the fan only works on high speed.

Im thinkin I couldnt be so unlucky that I purchased another switch with exactly the same faults, but stranger things have happened..lol.

I think the vacuum tank is sort of behind the bumper on the passenger's side. I think you might need to remove the plastic lining in the wheel arch to get at it.

As has been stated but with the fan speed resistor try and get a VR/VS one as they are much more reliable than the VN/VP ones and are a straight swap.

I think it is the resistor under the windscreen wiper motor which is the problem, will change it next couple days see how that goes, I'll keep ya posted.
