Default VN SS with an X in the VIN

Well I've found a "Calais VN SS". WOW Ebay is soooo good.

Should bid heaps for this shell (no motoir or grearbox). VIN starts out 6H8VNX19....

I have it fronm Holden that ALL VN SS's wer a "K"

Any Holden people out there in big old Australia have one of these X VN SS's

Correct, all VN SS are exec base hence the K in the VIN number....If it has X it is a Calais, no doubt about it! Obviously just some tool trying to get more money for his Calais!

One more thing that doesnt add up on that car.......the paint code on the ID tag is 1J052 which is alpine white! Yet the car looks (and is advertised) to be atlas grey!

    Wierd......

If its just a shell with no motor and no box and everything, what does it matter that its not a VN ss shell?
They arent exactly a rare car, and wont have the original motor and gearbox in it anyway?

If ya buying a car you would like it to be what it should be not something its not.

If ya want a ss buy a ss,if you want a calais buy a calais simple.
    Cheers.

Thats a fair point Wagon wheel, the only time it would matter is if say you wanted to re shell a VN SS thats a statutory write off and wanted to keep it a VN SS and clearly that shell is not an SS. The colour code doesnt even match the car.

Yeah, i wouldnt bother with what it is if ur just after a VN shell though.
Numbers would only matter if it were say, a VN clubsport or somthing

doing that id personally use an exec shell, not many people no the option code for ss anyway, most people only no that 8vk means exec. option codes dont stop people from mocking up cars, sad thing is most people fall for it and are devistated that they spent 12k on a mock vs ss that only cost 2.5k to do up, i get asked about 10 times a week and probly most of them are mock, unreported engine swaps, even tag swapping.. and yes there are propper rivets out ther for it! worst case was, i had a car dealer ring up to get a radio code for an ss he just got and the thing was a pov pack bt1 with the ss seats in it (standard upgrade for nsw police)

The email reply he sent was to the point telling me to get my facts right.
I was open to proof of a Calais SS Licks lips at the thought.

But - Oh dear. Never mind.

He'll just upset some one looking for an SS project to build up. AND get negative feed back.

    Could be ordered with it.

The SS code for an auto is A9F & manual is A9G. This code should be on the Compliance plate. (SS owners could confirm this easy)

Same place they put the BT1 code.

    The 324 is just LB9 + MD8 + 8VX (Calais)

i thing country pack suspension was pushed more onto the berlina and calais models rather than fe2, i would have thought you couldnt order the handling upgrade for the calais models any original owners out there with factory fe2? loll

The FE2 is what got my attention. Calais with FE2 Hmmm, Could have been a special order but SS spec is so far below Calais - I just dont see Holden doing it.

Were as a Calais with FE2 is possible as you can see by the compliance plate!
