    Unhappy Will not start, period.

After replacing the intake manifold gaskets and pulling the wireing harness from the engine bay Ive gone to crank her over and it just clicks once, the fuel pump primes as I can hear it, a exclamation mark comes up when im trying to start the car. Im thinking sensor/wiring/starter related.

Yeah, ill runn a diag when i get home. but yeah I pulled all the relays out and fusable links, maybe I put them arround the worng way, anyone have a picture of their fuseable link cover, thats the one that sits just under the big relay box in the engine bay. I highly doubt the starter is jammed. Maybe my battery is flat, but that would tick continulously right>? Mine ticks once....

Should I take lay a dookie in the throttle body?

Check that it isn't blown but I don't think you would hear the "tick" if it was.

duno, is it a CAS problem?

try using your imagination to trace the electrical circuit from the key to the starter. that might work

CAS on a 5L is known as a Hall effect sensor, they do the same sort of thing. But no, that all been checked. I found the reason why it woudnt start in the first palce, ign module, so now thats fixed and I put the car back together now I have this current issue.

Have to find out what power (if any ) is getting to the starter solenoid terminal..if your battery is flat when you switch on the headlights they will not be very bright...if they are ok and everything was ok before you pulled it apart...you must have bumped a connection ..if the pump is priming there is no reason why the starter voltage would be denied

OKay, going to check if it starts in any other gear, could be inhibitor switch, check battery voltage, check with headlights on, play with starter solenoid leads, then try again.

It was the starter solenoid, gave it a jiggle and it started....but the bad news is that its making a tapping / ticking noise and smoke was emmiting from the engine...

Tickings gone, smoke is from oil leaking onto zorst, dunno where the oils coming from but just started all of a sudden. A fair puddle of water was found at the rear exhaust joins under the rear axel, about the size of a CD disk wide. Dont think it was coolant, looked more like water. I went under the car and wides the oil off and started it again and found more drips. Awesome car this one is....

What the hell is happening with your car?

I thought it was pretty smick when you bought it? Or is it falling apart in typical VP fashion?

when you replaed your intake manifold gaskets did you use rubber or cork gaskets??

if you used cork gaskets you need to used silicone sealant on both sides of the cork to stop oil from leaking....
    its a possibility

Cork, I used sealant on the ends of the cork where it meets the heads, I cleaned and preped the surfaces too. Its down at the mechs now, I dont want to see it untill its all 100%. Will update when I get some info on it.

ah k... most places now use sealant the whole way along cos well... cork just doesnt work very well and i dunno why companies still sell cork gaskets lol

if its the seal laking then get a hold of some genuine rubber ones

Okay, found that the oil was leaking from the flywheel cover, it was full of oil, weather it be form my old leaky vally seal OR a current leaking rear main seal, all oil has been cleaned out and no drops have been seen yet! Starting issue was a way loose starter motor solenoid cap which is getting fixed tmr. Water was just allot of condensation and ****.

When you taking her down to the mechs to sort this gAyBS out? Good news is no more oil leak and timing is spot on, Im pretty sure my starting issue is gone now, but I cant be 100% certain just yet, Dont want to count my chickens before they hatch.
