gday guys posting this on behalf of my mate he has a vk and just brought a smashed vp 3.8 5 speed, and he wants to turbo it he got a turbo from autobarn its a kkr 380 rated at 380hp, we've seen on ebay the chips u can buy for the forced induction and also the 2 bar map sensors but wat were unsure of is injectors and manifolds
1) what sorf of injectors dus he need were told standard are only good for 8psi of boost he wants around 11-12osi
2) can u use the standard exhaust manifold with a j pipe set up or dus he need new custom ones?
3) will an aftermarket fuel reg be needed if so wat type?
4) he has a bosch 040 pump will this be good enuf?
5) how strong are the bottom ends this motor is a recon so pritty fresh
cheers for any advice muchly appreciated

Don't get me startedwe've seen on ebay the chips u can buy for the forced inductionthere is NO way a generic "forced induction" tune will suit your car with it's own particular set of modifications.
This is an absolute joke. Stock injectors with stock rail pressure will NOT support fuelling requirements for 8psi, let alone 11-12.1) what sorf of injectors dus he need were told standard are only good for 8psi of boost he wants around 11-12osi
Any manifold that merges both banks and goes into the exhaust housing of the turbo will do - how well these manifolds are made, how well they flow etc will determine, in part, how much power you make.2) can u use the standard exhaust manifold with a j pipe set up or dus he need new custom ones?
If you decide to use stock injectors, yes. This will need to be a rising rate reg, the ratio of which you will need to calculate based on the flow of the injectors at whatever pressure you will end up running. This will also vary according to your tune, which is why you SHOULDN'T buy a generic "2 bar boost tune" from some bloke on eBay, who probably doesn't have a clue how to tune a car, let alone tune YOUR car with your specific fuel system, turbo setup etc.3) will an aftermarket fuel reg be needed if so wat type?
Depends how much power you want - to give you an idea, the stock VN fuel pump should be good enough to pull 200rwkw odd.4) he has a bosch 040 pump will this be good enuf?
- remember that you will probably need to run a fuel return line (depending on if the VK was originally carby or EFI)
I ran my stock VP bottom end for about 20,000 - 30,000km on 10psi supercharged boost. I then ran around n/a LPG for another 10-20,000km, then I turboed it, 10psi non-cooled, and used it as a drift barge for probably 2,000 km of almost solid sideways action.... and never had an issue with the motor at all, a slight lifter rattle on cold starts, but other than that it was still fine, never even burnt any oil or anything5) how strong are the bottom ends this motor is a recon so pritty fresh.
Keep in mind, though, that the motor was tuned properly, with supercharged V6 injectors, 2 bar map sensor, and MOST IMPORTANTLY a customized tune to suit the motor and all modifications.
Good luck with the project! just remember that fuelling for the extra amount of air is the most important thing when it comes to reliability and the overall running of your car..... basically, how long the engine will last is all in the tune and fuel system- at minimal I'd recommend a 2 bar map sensor, bigger injectors (depends on how much boost you want to run) and a custom 2 bar tune on the stock ECU.
I forgot your turbo'd that VP Luke. Man you done some good work, when you become a mechanic come and move up north to sunny qld and I will give you all my business.
Doesn't your new job let you have MSN mack?
im pretty sure he wrecked it out and paradox got his engine... (pretty sure, i could be wrong)
