    Angry Please help!!!!!!!!!!! Frustrated

    People i need help
My S1 Calais is driving me mad i keep getting error code 42.
So far i have changed the CAS, O2 sensor, ECU, DFI and coil packs to the 3 coil type, coolant temp senser, fuel pressure reg, injectors cleaned, fuel filter, plus improvements.
But it just keeps stalling on a regular basis after about 30mins or so driving.
It gives me some warning by the engine cutting out for a split second then about 2-3 mins later it just dies, i pull over put it in park start it then off i go no waiting or anything.
My biggest prob is i have alot of new stuff to put on the car but i dont want to if it is stuffed and also i dont want to see another Vn Calais in a wreckers yard because i truly like my car and dont want to lose it.
Anyway enough babbling please help guys i dont want to see her DIE.

Is it temperature related, like is it when the car gets warm it does it?

Code 42 from memory is the EST unit, and if you have replaced the ECU,DFI and coil pack the only thing left is the wiring between all of these. Im pretty sure the Spark plug leads CANNOT caus the the fault code but it wouldnt hurt to replace them and the plugs aswell.

Yeah it seems to be temp related apart from that the car runs perfect it just has me stumped

I would replace the CAS again, they have been known to be faulty.

Check the DFI module too, was it a new one or S/H?

Try checking the wiring connector plug that goes into your DFI module.
It will do the splutter a few times then cut out thing when loose or faulty or dirty terminals with buildup.

Take it off spray carb cleaner in it then put it back,
dont do it up too tight or it will crack the connector casing and will wreck it completely.

also check the wires running out of it too , follow them as best you can for shorts or breaks.

yeah and depending on the quality of CAS you used it could very well be faaulty as stated above.

I was talking to a guy in Repco, (now these guys supply a lot of local mechanics) and he said they had stopped a few ranges of CAS because there was too many problems with them.

the one they sell now is still noly $60.00.

I have never paid less than $100.00 for one so who knows, but they do vary in quality due to the coatings/surfaces they use and internals quality.

Ive had code 42 for ages, ive replaced heaps of **** and it still wont go away and also my car would randomly stall like yours, especially when it was cold on the way to work, so I now just warm the car up for 5 mins before i go and no probs but i noticed when i start my car if i give it quick stab of the accel it sounds like its half gonna stall then starts idling normal again and will do this until its been on for 5 mins..

where exactly is the DFI exactly?

The DFI module is the thing the coils sit on.
