when i turn into a hard right hand turn i get this single clunk noise coming from what sounds like the front drivers side strut.
on the passengers front strut i have taken a picture of what could be the problem.
pics suck because i couldnt find the camera so i used my phone.
could this be the cause of the noise and if so what part do i replace it with.
have you checked the link pin bushes aswell??
its a small pin that runs alongside of the strut onto a stabiliser bar and has 4 bushes?
easiest way to inspect is to turn your wheel full lock to one side
Looks like the bush in the control arm that the radius rod connects to has really had it. I would replace it urgently.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
yes that bush has see better days .......replace as accentstencil had said...URGENTLY!!
like it aint gonna come undon (cross fingers loll) but it will be unsafe under the ideal conditions
righto will get on to that this weekend.
anyone know where i can get a replacement? repco?
Depends on your preference....probably gmh would be the best for a rubber type that is in your car now or you could go to a nolathane one as a upgrade although it would be more expensive. You can pull the old one out and the new one in (if you are using rubber)with a bit of threaded rod and a couple of nuts and washers and a piece of pipe and even leave the control arm in the car.
I am surprised you didnt feel or hear and notice something happening a lot sooner given the wear on it

i think the knock is due to me driving over a road being sealed and a torrent of stones hitting the underside of my car, thus lodging a large amount of stones between the bottom of the spring and the plate underneath the spring.
i had a look around the spring and sure enough there was a heap of stones and tar crammed in around the bottom of it.
