Hi guys,
just a quick one my misses has a vp berlina s2 v6 and it has a bit of a miss or surge between 1,000 and 1,200 rpm the car runs fantastics when its cold but once its warm it runs like it has a cam in it the revs fluctuate. It is a pain in the ass when slowing down because the jerks around but if you just feather the accelerator a little it goes away i have tried tuning it i have checked coil packs tps switches, o2 sensors, map sensors air flow, everything really even went to a mate who has tek2 for it and the computer cant pick it up as any fault im lost has this happened to anyone?
Anyone??????
My old VN v6 has the same issue mate, I never did get it fixed in the end. I liked to call it surging or hunting. It sounds kool lol. Give it a few hours mate, let the forum people wake up and have a read.
thanks man its like a surge its only when its warm though as its my misses car she is freaking out a bit.
I can think of a reason that MAY be causing it, sticky lifters. I ts always good to run a oil flush additive to your oil just before you change your oil, this will free up all the old gunky oil, it actually cleans as Ive done it in my car and now the rockers are spotless. Only costs like $12 a bottle from a autoshop.
same here its never stalled i just want to fix it though gotta keep the misses happy you know otherwise i miss out on loving lol
Anyone???????
Could be a fuel pump issue. Sometimes in their old age they get cranky when hot.
Or something sticky. Sticky valve, lifter, spring... try Mack's advice of throwing some cleaner in there and flushing her out.
How often is the car serviced? Do you have a list of items that have been replaced in the last two years, to help narrow it down?
If you could go into a bit more detail on the problem, circumstances, sounds, amount of throttle, what gear you're in, at what speeds, etc that would be goodAlso where on the gauge "warm" is

mine does the same thing, but it does it all the time.
has stalled a few times in reverse with full lock on, but thats it.
getting the valves, lifters checked and fixed if necessary. also changing the plugs.
hopefully this fixes it.
Could be a faulty coil, bad lead... the list is long with such a general problem. Could be fuel, spark or engine related.
Start replacing bits
aZk.

Had the same problems with mine 2day ended up resetting the computer while waiting i took out my throttle body cleaned the iac and throttle butterfly sorounds used a bottle of carby cleaner put it all back together and thought she was sweet but got into town 20klms away and started hunting again :{ , i head'd down to repco and grabbed another tps unit got home and installed and went and grabbed the kids and dun some shoppen and All sweet problem solved. Mind you the tps seemed to be working but when the motor was at operational temps it started playing up bouncen from 800-1300rpm.
I have had the same surging problem in my vp for the last 2 years, only when motor is at operating temp. fine when engine cold, was worse when using standard memcal BAMO265 . Have tried lots of standard vn-vp memcals, engine runs better since using sv3800 chip and premium 95 fuel. at the moment am using a Greenfoam economy type chip, so far pretty good. If your car has 2.5" exhaust and CAI, hi flow filter maybe the low backpressure leans the fuel mixture when throttle backed off. I have also replaced the coolant temp sensor and the IAC motor on T/B, MAP sensor in the last year but these didnt stop surging. And my car has new spark plugs + leads, have tried other ECU and coil packs,DFI module, so the surging must be a common problem with vn-vp v6 with zorst + breathing mods ,thats my 2 cents worth.
almost forgot, last year i put a new TPSsensor on T/B , and new T/B gaskets plus engine has bellmouth removed. removal of bellmouth made no real difference good or bad , to surging. have also tried 4 or 5 different 02 sensors. do other vn - vp owners of stock untouched motors have these surging, hunting issues?
