The gears will fit but imo better off with a fresh set. Pintara's are getting old, and so are the gears.

Even with a 5 speed, you will run out of gears pretty quickly. Also you will be pulling quite a few revs at highway cruising speed, but it will be quick as off the mark. My personal suggestion would be 3.7 (skyline r31 manual) or 3.89 (skyline r31 auto).

If you get a set of gears that are in good condition, not heavily worn, then it is a very worthwhile and cheap modification. IMO, pick a good set and you will be very happy and have saved a bit of coin too.

The 3 times i have changed diff gears i have used 2nd hand skyline gears. Each time i have picked a good set, got my diff builder to confirm that they are good before fitting them. No worries!
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

How much do you normally pay for second hand gears?

As REV-231 said, you will run out of gears very fast. In a manual I would say 4.11's are a bit silly. No point even having a first gear, you'll have to shift up gears so quick. Even on an auto, 4.11's are pushing it.

I could get some for about $100 in pretty good nick. the ones that are in mine now are a set from a car with 140k. I checked oil condition, rubber in guards etc.. my usual checks.

jazzawithvg38: As you could tell by my sig, mine is a v6 5 speed (opposed to yours being inline 6).. but just as an example, with 3.89 skyline gears behind my v6 i didnt even need 1st gear! 2nd would take off perfect haha.

I do recall though, that the R32 GTST's have 4.11 ratio.. (not 100% sure) so who knows, 4.11 ratios might match your engine and gb perfectly??

I hope they aren't through a person selling them from Endeavour Hills in Victoria mate ^^^^

Geoff (wagon wheel) and a bloke on the SC forum have both been stung by him / her. Paid him or her the cash, then nothing. It's been over a month now and nothing. Plus when they purchased the gears, this person was selling the gears under a different name, then after they payed the cash, the seller de registered from egay, now is selling them under a different name from Endeavour Hills.

sweet as. only reason i was thinking of the 411 was to match my speedo up somewher close to where it should be but it sounds like they would be no good. i have wired up the syline dash into the vg, so i guess i just get a set of 3.7 or something then just get the dash calibrated hey?? cheers

use the coommo dash, you buy a pulse mod for the speedo from jaycar for 50bucks, and all you need is a gps, jump on the freeway and adjust tthe pulses to suit the gps speed

What box you running RB20 or 25? you may be able to use r32 skyline auto speed sensor? I did a manual conversion on my 180sx and from memory skyline,300zx,s13 run same tranny could interchange sensors?? might be wrong but your sensor options would be S13 AUTO 3.9, MAN 4.11, R32 MAN 4.34, 300ZX ??? ect. might be worth a phone call to import wreckers?
