Default What Stops The Bonnet from Releasing

I've had it with this bonnet release thing.

If I just touch the bonnet with 1 finger and 2nd person has the bonnet release pulled open you get the click and the bonnet pops open.

    Else no go.

Just have to touch it and pop. Whats stopping it from opening????

Ive greased it & bent the loop part (where the cable attatches to the spring) around a bit more. What else to I need to adjust????

from memory this is a cable stretched kinda deal, you might have to take some slack out of the cable, there are a couple of threads with details

I had the same issue on my VR, i tried a bit of WD40 on the release clip and where it locks into place and it opens fine now. If that doesnt work then chances are youll need to let some slack out of the cable as was mentioned above.

Try to adjust the spring pressure on the bonnet so it pops up harder, you need to do this by using a spanner to tighten up spring on the bonnet and a screwdriver to hold the center part, if you have a look at your bonnet catch you will see what i mean

I went the other way and undid it a bit. So tomorrow I'll turn it up a bit.

Hope thats what I was missing. I have the cable nice and tight.

Fixed this issue. It is the release - catch spring. You undo the cable and slip it out. Then use a large flat blade screwdriver to slip the spring out. Scabbed a freebee from the wreckers and bonnet opens easy as.

The spring was getting weak and had a groove in it. It also sat half way across the hole the the bonnet pin goes into - blocking it. Normally it will sit about 1/3 rd of the way across it.
