Default Pod filter + loud sucking on idle

for everyone thats ever had a pod filter on a commodore.. you'll know the noise

i just fitted a pod behind my front bumper, ducted up to my throttle..

it works good and efficienctly.. only problem is, when its cold the cars making a excessive sucking noise on idle, go anywhere near the throttle and it goes away, and yesterday when it warmed up the noise dissapeared (as if it went away once it entered open loop mode)

thismorning it was about 8deg on the way to work and after i stopped moving and let it idle for 3 seconds the noise would significantly quiet down

either way, i figure the noise is the IAC bypassing the throttle,

soo my theory is its casued by something like TPS: Fast idle...

has anyone had a play round with this?

i cant stand the noise to the point where im sticking a airbox under the front bumper if i cant quiet it down

    anyone got any idea's

Sure I have an idea, use a panel filter in a airbox you twit:P. And then run the duct and it wont make much noise at all, you have it all back to front

i ditched the pod and used a stock airbox with the pipe down where the fog lamp was, seems to work good, noise is gone..

works good ill get some pictures of it for you mack 100mm is just long enough and best of all no cutting holes in chassis!

otherwise i would have done what greenfoam did and sacrifice structual integrity for speed :P

Must be pretty loud to make you an unhappy chappy.I have twin throttles on my VN 5L and twin pods at the moment and it isnt loud but there is a induction noise (maybe im going deff)lol. But i will be still running a pod once i finish making up my intake tube/block off box for my pod.

    is yours cammed kruptd?

i have a fairly high idle aswell well 800rpm is high to me :P

i shall get pics, i need a vs airbox lid as i couldnt use the v6 top half as its the wrong angle output soo i used my SV lid which fits into the stock bottom half dodigly, vs v8 lid apparently fits up perfect but yeah you can squash a 3" pipe into that rectangle on the bottom end and it fits up near perfect just need to seal the edges which isnt too hard, its sealed good enough to feel the vaccume on idle

The pod constantly makes a sucking sound like a vaccum, I would thought it would be worse in the normal position and I got rid of mine cos id rather hear a v6 sound now than a pod got sick of it

Yeah mine is cammed, has a stage 2 crane cam(mild cam).Mine idles around 880rpm to 950rpm but, when driving idles at around 990rpm/1000rpm then it will drop to the 880/950rpm range.I dont think its a high idel with the cam i have. With my old memcal with the standard intake manifold i had it idle around 700rpm and it was too low.But now with the twin throttles and the cam i have it idle around that 880rpm/950rpm range, plus now you can really hear the cam at idle as well as under driving.

hey, he was complaining about the sound, i never said anything about it being good for the engine. but i always though mine sounded best first thing in the morning, 5.30 am, nice and crisp outside (3 or 4 degrees C) some frost on the ground. didn't need to rev it either really just cruise to work (waking the whole neighbour hood )

Btw i was driving once and there was smoke coming from my bonnet and my pod was almost on fire it had major smoke coming from it, lucky i was about 3km from home. I had to heatshield it cos i was afraid it would set fire to my engine bay, thats another reason i took it off
