    Thumbs down Melted Fuse

Ok i just got this 91 vn and my aircon would come on and then stop then come on etc, so i thought must be outta gas.
Well i was installing a stereo and under the dash i has a fuse melted to the board i had to use a bit of force to get it out and it has mangled the slot it came out of its all melted but the fuse is for the aircon, so i thought i would just leave it out as its comming inot cooler weather i wont be using aircon anyway.
Well now the vn has started to overheat when its sitting in traffic or at lights but it cools down when i start to move again. Is the fuse that was melted for the aircon connected to the thermos as this is the only thing i can think of that has change to make the thermos not work and i cant hear them kick in when the temp gets to half way, also if i just throw another fuse in there could i cause more problems as something has really fkd that fuse and melted that slot or will it just blow again and ill have to work out a bypass ( any tech for bypassing for a switch to thermos).
Sorry for the novel just trying to give as much info as possible

rule no1: dissconect battery when stuffing around with electrics.

you may need to get a new fuse pannel mate.

What colour was the fuse that came out of the holder?

Have you checked Fuse 23 in the engine bay, that runs the engine fan (should be 30 Amp)?

There are also two relays in the same area of the engine bay, 1 for aircon and 1 for engine fan. Might try swapping these about with the maybe horn and hi beam.

Do you have a test light or multi meter?
Is there power at fuse 23? Cooling Fan?
Is there power at fuse 9? air con computer?
Is there power at fuse 17? air con?

In the diagnosis connector (passenger side footwell) connect terminal A & B. In a perfect world the fan will run.

If all this doesn't work, i'll scan the page from the manual dealing with testing the cooling fan circuit.

Ok there's something wrong if your melting fuses. Fuses are there to protect the cable.
For the A/C I'd be checking you didn't do damage to the wiring.
As for the overheating, no idea.
