Default VP 5 litre lpg conversion?

    hey guys,

Just bought a 93 VP Berlina wagon 5 litre V8. Its stock standard other than pacemaker extractors. I'm looking to convert it to LPG asap, as i'm going into an apprenticeship and would struggle to afford petrol.

I live in Ringwood (eastern subs)
Where should i take it to be converted?

    Thanks,
    James

Look up LPG fitters in the phone book....then ask when they can fit you in, then book in with the shop with the shortest waiting time...its really that simple...

Your best bet is to sell it and buy a V6 or 4 cyl if you are worried about fuel costs.

Thanks, but I just bought the car with the intention to convert it to gas. I need a wagon so a smaller car isn't really an option and i wasnt keen on the old 'buick rattler' V6 so i went for the 304 V8. It will still be cheaper to run than a smaller car on petrol considering the price difference between gas and petrol. I'm not worried about the slight difference in performance or anything like that. Just need to get from A to B without it costing me an arm and a leg whilst i'm on a small wage.

I called AG autogas in lilydale and got quoted $3050.

If you insist on converting it to an 8 burner BBQ at least get gas injection, not those ass mixer setups.

ive been looking into lpg injection

a system to support 250rwkw is worth $4500 these days for a 304, thats everything

take away govt grant and thats $2500...

not bad considering most places want $3500 to do a crap carby setup

i have the older mixer style on my V8 and it has never missed a beat. Possibly a little less power but runs a fair bit smoother.

I'll swap you my VP Berlina 'rattler' + cash for your wagon. Anything to stop you putting gas on it.

The Impco carby makes minimal loses over petrol the Gas research even less. Direct injection will have no power loss and possible gains over petrol I was talking to a guy that has a direct injection setup on his VS ute yesterday and he rekcon it's the **** . You can still make 150 rwkw on simple gas research carby lpg on a bolt on 5 litre. But whatever you do try to avoid a gas ring mixer style setup. Stealthys just a die hard hsv elitist whinger so don't worry about him

Whilst i know the benifits of a straight gas setup, most people don't go this path. In all other cases, Gas is for BBQs.

I just couldn't stand to see such a rare car butchered for 'petrol costs' when it is the most fuel efficient motor for its year (comparing to the V6)

Why is the car so rare? Its dunnydoor with a V8.Guy that looked at my Vq the other day had one whoop de do.If he wants gas them let him get it.Bloody morons that are against gas, give some good reasons for why not to use it.He wanted some advice on how and where and Bill and Ben type the usual crap. What i would do to give out a little touch up at the moment.Usual idiots with the same old comments just looking for a chance to argue.

Now back on the subject, get gas injection if you can afford it as its worth the extra $$$.Ive had our BA done and cant complain, but the VQ had the old setup and was trouble free also.

If it aint broke, why fix it.

I havn't yet seen 'savings' with gas to warrant spending $1000s, so wouldn't it be a good idea to give such advice to someone who is contemplating spending that much money?
Maybe on a Carby 304 is is needed, but an injected 304 is fuel efficient enough that even a first year apprentice can afford to run them.

If VP V8 Berlina Wagons are so plentiful, find me one for sale

I could get over 400klm from 70lts of gas at a cost of around $35.Work it out,i call that a good saving.I have gone from a straight gas VQ to a petrol only VT 5lt and there is a big difference im my running costs now.

    I bought a V6 one because i couldn't find any V8 ones.

Now looking around still trying to find one, i saw a VN one, but if the right VP comes along, i'll probably settle for that.

Send me some pics, and we'll talk. Never owned a green car yet
