VP Calais International

Hi Guys and girls,
I have a VP Calais International but I dont know much about it and cant really find too much on the net, any help?

300 made, 150 Black (Anthracite Grey) and 150 White.

All are V8s, and Auto, and have Black over Tan interior. Has a leather wrapped SS style wheel, with international logo.

Exterior is Single Colour, not two tone, and has SS lower kit, and VQ Caprice Bootlip.
Window moulds are BLACK, not CHROME like normal Calais. Mirrors are colour coded, although i can't remember if normal Calais' ones are aswell.




I was told by an ex holden employee that Internationals had Different pistons to the normal V8s, in his words 'which gave a slight edge over the SS'. but i havn't confirmed that anywhere.


Bit of history, its the first COMMODORE to wear the 'international' badge, however one of the earlier model holdens had it before. Not sure which model tho.
The reason for the model in the first place, just left over parts at holdens, slap on a badge, and call it a limited edition car.


There are now pleanty of 'international models

VP Calais International (5.0 V8)
VS Statesman International (5.0 V8)
VT Calais International (Super 6 motor)
VX Calais International (5.7 V8)
WH International (5.7 V8)
VY Berlina International 'wagon' (I think both motor types)

Not too sure on the latest models, but yes, there will be a VE International.

Thanks, I wasnt even sure how many were made. Some sites said 150-300 and another said 256 or something like that

Definantly 300.

Theres plenty of copies around tho, but they usually forget 1 thing, the window moulds.

I dont think my steering wheel has the international logo though and also it has (well had) the international badges on the side of the car aswell, is that normal?

Not for the VP.

These are the only exterior badges you should have, on the grill, and on the drivers side, on the boot.


Not the V8 badge on top, i put that on myself.

Also forgot, the standard wheels are VQ Statesman 15in alloys, (look like hubcaps) and have different centres, same holden symbol, but no 'wreath' around it, whcih the stato ones have.

At the bottom when you hit 'reply', theres a button called manage attachments, click that, and a new window will open, then you just browse your computer for them.


An easier way is to upload your pictures to photobucket like i do, then you can post them as much as you want, with attachments, you can only post each picture once

Thats definantly an original one

Note the date and for sale signs on the pics The HSV badges on the front 1/4s are not original for any VP, even if it was a HSV enhanced one.

Just noticed the badges on the B pillars.

They are not factory.


VTs however, had them on the rear pillar (and VX Calais aswell, not sure on the statesman models)

Yeah they arent there anymore, someone helped themselves to them. Wish I still had them though.

As much as it sucks someone stealing them, you can buy them new from holden for $34.

I have a VX one on the back of my car, it has a chrome backing, instead of black.

Hmm. I thought I was onto the pick of the bunch when I picked a VP Calais interior to (slowly and painfully) transplant into my VN... seems I was wrong! Then again, good luck finding one of 300 Internationals with a complete interior!
