Professionals can repair a small chip, so it may be worth getting a quote from them. Its probably a standard thing and they can give you a rough price over the phone. The size of a chip that can normally be repaired is anything smaller than about a $1 coin and apparently the process takes less than 20 minutes. There are regulations though that decide if they are able to repair it depending on the depth and location and possibly a few other factors.

Supercheap also sell a kit made by permatex I think that allow you to give it a go yourself. Costs about $20 for the kit and consists of a syringe and resin that sets in the sunlight. Havent tried either so cant give any feedback - but I wouldnt try drilling it for fear of making it worse and having to buy a whole new windscreen.

    lol, uhhh... don't drill it.

How deep is the chip? As suggested, you're best off having someone like Novus take a look.

    15mm. lol.

I'm fairly sure it's only 40 bucks or so for them to drill it anyway?

Yeah well it isnt s chip its a crack, its abought 100mm long in the left hand lower side.It all started when i opened the bonnet one day and the hinges had collapsed and the edge of the bonnet dug into the window and left a little crack only 3mm.That was a few weeks ago.Today took my fiance for a drive over 150km and whilst driving the crack had further cracked twice due to the crappy roas out here.I have seen a few windows where they have started to crack and have been drilled slightly to prevent them from further cracking.I am going to eventually replace the windscreen but dont want it to crack further.

Yeah man I think it's only cracks that get drilled anyway.

Go find a windscreen repair place and they'll sort it out.
