Question what is the std compression

    hi
got a 5ltr VQ that won't go and I was wondering what the compression per cylinder would be for a std 5ltr in fai condition

    cheers

You think the compression has dropped? Do you know if the starting is spark or fuel related?

your compression would have to be extremely low for it not to fire, id be checking other possibilites.

yeh thanks, I know it's not compression related, I have got spark and fuel, too much fuel I think as it's got a big fuel pump (just put in to get it going) and plugs are as wet as
I think it's washing the spark away, anyhow I did a compression test at 135 psi at each pot and I wanted to know if that was fair or low

plus last night I doubled checked all the leads and found they had put the leads back on the cap one slot out so 1 was in 2 and so on
hope to see if she will fire tonight

    cheers

A compression test should always be done when the engine is warm not cold, so try it again after you get the car running.
135 isnt to bad, just showing its age, if all pistons are close to each other thats good, its when you have all different reading you know you have trouble.
For e.g. my paddock bomb current has (3 cylinder engine) its got 45,30, 140 so theirs definitly something wrong, in this case its just a blown head gasket.
