hi guys,
well to start of with i better tell you all what i have done so far:
vk 3800 i have put a vn series 1 v6 in it with the t700 auto box
sci4 charger runing the std 3 psi
got a chip off ebay
has a 35hp NOS shot
have removed all extra wiring, sound deadener, back seats and any other useless crap ( this is not a daily driver)
welded and lead filled diff
exaughst comes out of the headers and straight out the sid near the front wheels
ok so was wondering what to do next i am on a bit of a budget so internal motor mods are not really a option but would like to hear what you all think i should do next
o by the way i ran a 10.76 with out the nos or charger over a 1/8 mile
cheers matt
That's not a bad little backyard project you have going there!I love a little budget hack like that. A million internets to you.
If you've got a couple of hundred bucks in your kitty, I think best bang for your buck to mate up with the t700 ratios, would be to chuck out your welded center, and throw a set of 4.11 gears in the diff with a spool. The gears will see you down at least half a second, if not more?
A corvette servo piston in the transmission will make a huge difference to shift times aswell. I run one, and I'd never turn back.
You've got the idea stripping the guts out of the car - weight loss ROCKS(I've done this to my daily)
And you should do a search for mods "stocky" runs on his supercharged 3800. He's getting damn good power out of it, at a decent price. I think a VK shell with a similar setup to stocky, will see you running decent consistent 9s.
Wait for Stocky and Greenfoam to reply. They're experts on this topic![]()

more boost (smaller pulley) - $100 77mm Fixed Supercharger Pulley sc14 CRS Commodore - eBay Other Performance Parts, Performance Parts, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 08-May-08 11:00:00 AEST)
bigger injectors: - under $300
www.deatschwerks.com/ (39lb EV6 style injectors)
2 bar Map sensor - $100
tune - either at a dyno, or get someone on here to share theirs.
you'll see a MASSIVE difference with those mods, From memory I ran an 8.9 1/8th mile in a full weight vp, with a 2.1 60ft time? foamy will remember if that's true.
Any ideas on what i can do to keep my wheels on the ground i lose alot of tracktion as there is no waight in the back
Phat, phat tyres.
If you want to work it on a budget, get yourself two 15*7 ceptors for the rears, and wrap them in some sticky 225 rubber. If you live in Vic, then I can recommend Highway Maxx. I run a rough 6.5 to 7sec 0-100 pass, which isn't as quick as you, but with the Highway Maxxs on the back and LSD, they barely spin for a second off the line. Best part is, those tyres are only $50 a pop brand new. You can get them from Highway Tyres. Vic only.
But yeah, it's all about getting fat, sticky rubber down on both wheelsI used to bag 'em up all the way through first and second gears before I found Highway Maxx ^_^ (and I still do now when I have my burners on the back.)

ey morton where exactly do you get the tyres from what address? i would apperciate thatim using 15x7 to n i get real big big wheelspins n its only a 6 i lose so much traction it goes to oneside like crazy n thats on dry road =[ so im guessing these tyres will help

Highway Tyres
Try that link. They have five store locations in Vic.
The tyres are much stickier than a cheap Bridgestone compound, and they stay that way. If I may say so, my driving style can occasionally provide quite a rigorous test of tyre performance and durability - and the Highway Maxx brand has shown no signs thusfar of cracking, splitting, separation, or any other defect. They're damn hardy. They won't last you quite as long (in terms of tread life) as a more expensive, harder compound - but for $50 each (or $63 fitted I think) you can afford to change them a little more often
I believe greenfoam uses them too - and without fault to date.![]()

get the same injectors as stocky and get his tune... could it be easier????? :P
mate throw that "chip" away off ebay last thing you need is more timing right now...
3psi isn't terribly bad but you need atleast 10psi from that charger with a intercooler..
10.76 is aright.. i'm only running a 9.4
but you should beable to crack a 7 or 8 with no more than $1000!!! more spent
i take it this car isnt registered, dedicated drag car?
what i would do is fabricate 6 pipes up that come out just after the front wheel, back pressure is all lies anyway, i proved that on the track, plus with the charger you don't need to worry
to recap
42lb injectors
2 bar map sensor (so that the ecu detects it has left vac and entered boost and ajusts fuel accordingly)
2 bar custom tune
3.45-3.7 diff gears
intercooled ($200 for a cooler off ebay)
valve springs....
do that and you'll be laughing
this is why you need valve springsyour springs will be doing this because they're old and sagged!

yea its a dedicated drag car! i went with the 77mm pulley off ebay and also picked up a cooler i am not going to put that on till after my next race (11th of may) becouse i cant get the injectors b4 then so ill have to wait. + the misses found out i was spending cash lol that wasnt fun :P
is that in whyalla where your racing? i live here and also run a supercharged v6 setup with the sc14 blower.
Hi vn calais manual, No its in wilby near Wangaratta im in Albury about 1.5 hours north of wilby. Were is Whyalla might be somewere else i can go. also got some 3.45 gears out of a vl turbo diff ( got the whole diff )

Thought u were in Adelaide for a sec! There was a red VK at the Carline behind my shop that has a V6 with the SC14 charger on it!
Sounds like it could be a good machine! Id go more boost and more traction.
Shut up when I'm talkin' to you, you hear me, answer me!
lol bit to far but who knows i might get over there one day

That's a 2.07 ish 60 foot full stalled launch on 50$ Highmax tyresyou can't get a better advertisment than that, 0.0% wheelspin not even 1mm worth and that's putting down a heap of torque at very low rpm, I would say quite a bit more than a 3psi V6 with the nos, so tyres are VERY important
went and seen my tyre bloke today he is going to see if he can get me in a set of highway max so i should know by next week wont get them b4 my next race meet but atleast i will be able to start next season on a fresh set.
do you guys in Melbourne race over the winter we stop in may here and dont get back into it till october
i'm getting a 9.7sec 1/8th mile with a full weight VN and the crappiest 14" stockies with the worst traction ever, no nos (yet) no boost so i'd expect you to go a bit quicker with a light VK shell. defintily go with some gears in the diff and minispool. also shift kit the trans with corvette servo.
