I am looking at buying a VN SV5000 or VP 5th Anniversary 5000i(not to fussed on which model, as they are hard to find). My shares have been going up and down like a yo-yo and I want another V8. Something as a weekend car that I will be happy to keep for a long time. VN/VP's are my favourite car, I have had 5, so an SV5000 or 5th Anniversary 5000i would be true love.
I prefer the 5th Anniversary Edition, but I havent seen any 5000i's up for sale, an SV5000 is alot easier to find.
Please tell me your thoughts to sway my mine, has anyone driven both? Is there much difference between them, performance wise(I know they have the same power)?

A VP Clubsport 5000i has the same Black motor as my VP GTS, they have the left over VN GRP A bottom ends with 4-bolt mains. A total of 65 VP Clubby 5000i's were made. 359 VN SV5000 were made, they came in either green or rose grey. I have seen (on forums) a few arround, so they seem to be the collector car of choice. Its rare to come across a 5000i clubby, but I must say the SV has more appeal since it looks better and goes better. Then you have the VP GTS option I suppose, thats the way I went, only 130 made. The choice is up to you.
The 5000i Senator does not have the "black engine" with GRP A 4-bolts.
I am not to fussed, 5th Anniversary 5000i GTS, Clubsport, Senator, Maloo? Is an SV5000 any faster/better performance than 5000i VPs. All have 200kw.

Well, you should be fussed if its a investment car since only a few will gain a decent amount of dorra. Clubby's dont really stand out from the crowd, unlike the sv5000, and ive herd that the SV's have pulled good numbers stock, Mid 14's apparently. Depends what your after, looks? Rareity?
Enjoying the car will be the main priority, resale is less important. 5th anniversary 5000i's are all far more rare than SV5000s, only time will tell what will happen to the price.
So your advise is VP GTS or SV5000? Not clubsport...
What price range do you think if good? I have seen lots of SV5000s about $10,000 and 5th anniversary 180kw the same price. 200kw I havent seen any to price. There is a grey SV5000 in WA for $15000, low km's too.

The SV5000 is one of the classic original HSV's along with the VN Group A.
In good and original condition, they will appreciate in value much quicker than the Clubsport 5000i. There were less of the 5000i's made, but they are not a stand out car like the SV5000. The VP GTS will appreciate well in value also.
Its too hard to pick between the SV5000 and GTS, i'd just look around and see which one you find in the best condition for a decent price.
SV5000 for the win. But thats my choice.![]()

I'd rather the 5000i
Theres a guy on SC who has a VQ 5000i, and so does his missus. Matching 5000i's......

There isn't much in SA, so unless something comes up I am probably going to have to go interstate. Victoria is the easiest to get to, is there any local victorian websites, people might advertise on? I have been looking on the main ones, nothing remotely good in SA.

There was one for sale here a while back in North Adelaide but it was on gas (why you would do that to a classic I will never understand).
GRP A
i'd never buy it, even if i had the money cause i would wanna drive it, i wouldn't be able to resist

I will not buy a car on gas unless it is real cheap. It would be to much effort to return the car standard.
A Group A would be nice, but I wouldn't enjoy it as much, I would be to afraid somethiong would happen to it. Maybe if I had glass between my garage and the house so I could look at it everyday![]()
