after advice for motor conversion??

as the title states im thinking of doin a vr bottom-end {sump up to heads} with my vn top{intake manifold and up/out}.
not too sure if it will work but just trying to throw ideas around in head, only because the car i have bought a month ago is starting to make some severe engine noises and runs like a hairy dog on idle..
either i do that or i do a vx ecotec engine conversion{motor, computer, and wiring i have bought rather cheap}
if it costs too much to do the vx conversion ill sell the ecotec for a vr pre-ecotec..
any advice accepted from all.........

i recon just do the vx conversion if you alredy have it saves having to stuff around with changing parts over
