    Angry Vn Radiator bottle....

    Hi
l'm after a radiator bottle cap from a vn series 1 or 2 ? it has an outlet coming from the actual cap and a hose that runs from that bottle to an overflow bottle on the passenger side .l've been given a cap from a vp and was told to get rid of the overflow bottle .Doesn't this mean that that pressure is trapped in the cooling system and the car would more than likely overheat ?If l could get a cracked one l'd be able to repair it ..
[l think ?]Hope someone steers me in the right direction
    Regards Mac...

the vn cooling system is a pressurised system.

the bottle cap on my series 1 v6 vn has no hose on it and no overflow bottle. the reservoir is itself an overflow bottle, which accepts fluid bled into it from the cooling circuit via a pressure regulator.

i can't remember if there is an overflow pipe on it or not, but no bottle i'm pretty sure.

ther is none..... V6 series 1 VN's have no radiator cap ur right about that, they ONLY have a surge tank next 2 washer bottle, no over flow bottle. The cap for the surge tank has a relief valve in it and if excess fluid needs 2 escape then it will escape through that valve, what ur describing is NOT original. If ur car has NO radiator cap then remove the overflow bottle it AINT sposed 2 be there. no commodores will have a surge tank AND an overflow unless sum ********s fitted it.... Im a mechanic and i own a VN and i cant figure out how that would actually work having both bottles, i recomend removing the over flow, looking at ur car from front, radiator has TOP and BOTTOM hoses and ONE small hose coming from top right hand side of radiator that hose SHOULD go to left front side of surge tank, off surge tank will be another small hose and 1 medium hose, small hose goes to manifold, medium hose goes to T piece...... Thumbs down VN surge bottle

vn v6 models built from 18/4/90 to 1/11/90 were fitted with an additional overflow bottle and surge tank cap part number 92040745 they stopped making the caps about july 1993 it says in the report l got that in the event the original cap has been lost or damaged there is no alternative other than to fit the present cap part number 90409256 which renders the overflow bottle inoperative ,GMH. said that it leaves about 21 lb pressure back into the cooling system and l'm having troubles because of this that's why l was after the original cap but it looks as though l have to fit a new radiator with the radiator cap.at least this way the extra pressure will be able to escape when the temperature rises.][IMG]
