hey guys, i have a vn in the back yard that has electric side mirrors and has the electric boot release. Now my vn executive 1988 don't have this, is the wiring for these in my vn or do i have to run wires...like is it plug and play as in are all the wiring looms the same alls i have o do is locate the plugs and plug the wires from these into the correct sockets?
cheers![]()
The wiring will not be there for the mirrors.
The eletric boot release however may be a different story. I think all looms had the wiring for the eletric boot release, its just a matter of hooking it up. Not 100% sure though.
ah ok cheers for that
i would be interested in this question too , i have searched this site to no avail , any feedback would be appreciated
If the boot release wiring is there, you will need to pull the dash out. It will be taped up to the loom, hidden there somewhere behind the glovebox.
But in an exec, no wiring for the power options like electric mirrors etc. It all has to be added.
does that include ss models too?
Did the boot release come on S2 on all models? Or was it a option on both S1's and 2's. Friends got a S2 with boot release and im jealous![]()

haha that would be me lol but havent gotten around to doing it yet..i did however rip it out of the car out back (1990 lexen) and it was part of the wireing loom so id say (as it has already been said) it will be taped up there somewhere, requireing the dash out which only took me 15 min on the car out back so i may or may not do it this way lol :P
worst comes to worst ill run my own wires
my mums vn executive has it...think it was asked for at dealer when it was new though (we are second owner of car)
well got around to doing it (well half of it lol) now mine is an executive 88 model, the boot wires are there just have to fish them out. the wire for the solinoid at the boot should be rolled up and hidden where the fuel filler door mechanisms is and the button you have to take the glove box light out and you should be able to see another 2 wires beside the glove box light. these are i think black and orange and the other is orange (i think) will make sure and post up later. just fish these out (with a bit of force) and then its a matter of running the wire through the boot itself, this is the only hard part. otherwise it there (the wires) BUT the electric mirrors im not sure yet, id say the connection for the mirror wiring (power plug block thing) would be there somewhere but yeah you still need the complete wiring loom for it (mirror wiring loom) will also post up how i go with that ......hopefully the wiring is there (im dreaming haha)
cheers
Ah excellent, so it should be there on all models.
I still don't think you'll find the connection though for the electric mirrors on anything under a Berlina.
yeh no connection for teh mirrorsbut its easy enough to wire up though.
so conclusion is that the boot release you just need the button and the solenoid for the boot and for the mirrors you need the complete wiring loom (mirror loom not complete car wiring loom haha) but have to connect it to earth and an active
