i finally got it all good and i started it but the oil light and engine light are on.
does this mean my oil pump is stuffed or??
the car runs but really rough and cant rev very high.
what could the problem possibly be?
low compression
oil pump not working
lifters
or something else??
check to make sure map sensor hose is connected properly, leads are on properly and is there oil on your oil pressure switch?
its all connected proply and i noticed when i start it just the oil light comes on like its not getting any oil.
runs hell ruff and doesnt rev high.
is the oil pressure switch near the oil filter?
got oil ?
when was the filter changed last, perhaps start by runing some engine flush additive through and flush the oil and change it and filter, see how ur oil light goes then..
does it blow smoke? what fault code are you getting.
For the love of god get the fault codes then get back to us!!
I'd suggest getting an oil pressure gauge hooked up to confirm pressure for starters. What else have you done, has the engine been apart? If so, timing chain could be out. If not, could be a bent pushrod, broken valve spring etc. Cheaper problem can be cracked spark plugs, now might be a good time to throw em out and bang in a fresh set.

I would put a mast gauge on the oil pump and check for pressure.If there is no oil getting pumped through the motor the lifters wont bleed up and would create an engine missfire.The valves wont open and close proeperly.Make sure dont run the engine more than 30 seconds with the oil light on will cause damage to the engine.Might even spin a bearing if very unfortunant.

im pretty sure it is my oil pump.
this sounds pretty reasonable. cos evrything is fresh and new on the motor apart from the main internals and stuff so theres no timing thats off or anything.
im gonna check the oil pump later and i think that should solve the problem. because i was getting oil pressure problems b4 i took the engine out so mayb the pump just totally shat itself now.
hopefully all goes good tomorow.
It would pay to try to pull the sump off while the engine is still in the car.Check the oil pick up isnt damaged or blocked.When removing the oil pump make sure the gears if they are removed go back in the proper positions and pack the oil pump with vaseline (where the gears are) and also fill thr oil filter with oil before fitting it so you have oil in the filter to pump through,the vaso will break down and will help with priming the oil pump.

iv just got a slight exhaust manifold leak which i need to fix and its still in limp mode cos the memcal is stuffed so i should be getting my foam tune pretty soon.
What was the problem?
he said manifold leak n memcal.. i think i have the same problem with my manifold its idles at 400 500 at the lights sumtimes it stallsss GRR
well the problem wasnt really that. after fixing the car i found out i had a exhaust leak and i knew about the ***ed memcal. but it was just that not enough oil got in through the pump at the start.
stupidest thing ever but its all good.
i just need a new oil pressure switch tho.
then fix the exhaust manifold leak
and get a new memcal
